I did a Rock and Road Loop. Woman with proper social distance warned me that the bike trails were packed ... Bike lanes we're better... She was right.

Back Bay trail more people than I have ever seen.. lots of families ... And some knuckleheads.

So I got off at University rode the roads bike line fine and not a ton of traffic.

Shady canyon pretty busy... Bommer closed so re-route up Newport Coast and Ridge Route.

Ridge Park ... More cars than I have ever seen.. seriously fully park back to the stop sign

Both El Morro lots full... Line to get in Beach side Crystal cove

    Back to back Bay

    Good ride...weird day..

Yeah... But my wife doesn't like me riding around the kitchen island. :p

Hmmm... I do have 36 stairs, though... That could become the DH course if it rains much more.

    Edit: I need more coffee.

This doesn't count except that I turned pedals....

I did a Zwift ride this morning prior to logging on for my telecommuting day.

Went for some more backcountry riding yesterday. El Cajon Mtn is one of the more visible peaks from much of central and south San Diego and sits above a granite wall named El Capitan. There is a trail out to the peak above that wall that makes for a great once-every-few-years acquired taste beatdown. It's a tough ride or hike. Or in my case, ride and hike.

That is the trail in the middle there. Just a little steep. And this trail truly is uphill in both directions.

Ditched the bike 1/2 mi below the summit and hiked the rest. Up top the trail is marked with green posts every 20 ft. Guess some people have trouble following an obvious trail?

Great view looking SE. The taller peak in the middle is where I was the day before

    DSC05109.jpg

Looking west under darkening skies. Despite a couple tough climbs on the way down I was back at the truck in an hour, just as it started raining. Sucks to be any of the hikers I passed on the way down! Hardest 12mi ride I'll do this year. Not the best ride but worth it for the views and the cool terrain.

Rode the Luge today just before 9:00am. I passed 1 biker and 3 hikers, so not bad. I had to park along the road since parking at Cook’s is taped off. A little water in spots in the middle parts of the single track, but not much mud.

All parks and trails that are City of San Diego property are closed. Other cities like Chula Vista and some land managers have followed. Unfortunately as each place gets shut down it pushes people to the next open spot and we'll probably see more closures. Hoping it doesn't get out to the desert or national forest but Mt Laguna Rec area is going to get crushed on weekends once it warms up to the high 60s/low 70s.

Iron Mtn was listed as open yesterday so I went, figuring it will close soon. Getting back to the TH there was - guess what - a trail closed sign! Glad I got up there for one last ride before hand.

Quick spin after work today. Was windy and chilly, but very nice and clear. Just a little mud and very few other trail users. Road and dirt combo, 13 miles, 1000 ft elev.
    Good times!

Totally Wicked again, took a better line so it was smooth sailing. See I learned from the last drop. Rode back up, every HAB I identified all the flowers getting ready to bloom, bruised some black sage just to smell the heavenly aroma. Saw nobody again, no tracks, but did see one set of tracks on the single trac heading out, they rode when the trail was too moist.
    Happy bloom and buds trails

Nope. Had forgotten to move my tool kit and pump over to my hip bag. Realized it as I was leaving the truck. Oh well, worst that can happen I have to do the walk of shame. Had a great climb up. Cleaned more stuff than I have in a long time. Had a snack at the top then started the descent. About 3 turns below the top I lost most of the air in the rear tire. Puncture. Had a spare tube and CO2 canister in my top tube bag but the inflator that is supposed to be there was not. So, worst case came true and I got to do the walk of shame down the whole mtn. No ellie lane for me. Beautiful evening to go for a hike though!

Wednesday evening ride Maple Springs to 4 Corners. When I turned on to Silverado Canyon there was overflow parking for Blackstar. As I kept driving as saw a dozen go away leave us alone signs posted by the locals. When I got to the locked gate there was parking available. While I was riding I only encountered 3 hikers. On the way up, I was treated with cold, wind, rain and hail. The dirt was in nice condition. When I got to 4 C's it was 33 degrees and very windy. Decided that was the limit of my preparation so I enjoyed the ride back down. As I was getting ready to leave, I saw a truck come down MS and stop at the gate. They discovered that they were locked in. They came over and asked me if I had a key. Told them I didn't and asked them how they got there. They had gone up Coal Canyon, took Main Divide to MS, and were now stuck in.........!

Trails finally dried out, so we got out.
Suz took off early. I hung out before heading out.

rolled over to the Oaks at 4:00.

once in the park, started seeing a lot of this:
    015C04C6-27D5-42BD-8EBA-E9C673D856C8.jpeg

someone has been putting in laps on their moto out on all the trails.:(:bang:

did my normal loop. Climbing up BumbleBee, I heard the pop at the 2nd switchback jut didn’t see anything. Continued on up to the top of Hawk when I took another look.....
    3077B60C-5B7E-4E6C-A4F8-D4380C668937.jpeg

I’m surprised it held on that long. Saw Kay and Greg go by as I was fixing the chain. I was then in chase more. I caught Kay, but Greg was too far up.

park wasn’t as quiet as I had hoped it would be. Still a lot of groups out there.

picked up Duz at the bottom of Goat took an alternate route home.

They said " They started at Green River, went under the bridge, the gate was open and the climb was real sketchy." Sounds like Coal Canyon. If not, possibly Gypsum Canyon start ?

Was it a work truck or someone out for a joy ride?

there is no legal vehicle access from Green River. Same goes for Gypsum.

even if the gate was open at the bottom of Coal, there are 4 more gates that are always locked.
