I had to ride the trail a bit differently on the hardtail. Especially with just a front brake... more crawl, less smash.

But you can see it the vid there’s not a lot of DH bombing. It’s a XC trail; up, down, lots of level. Just incredibly rocky, hence the double black.

Those guys in the vid completely killed.:thumbsup:

Rode MTT today with T-2. Lotsa water at the bottom. We had to walk half the stream crossings. Once we made the Rt. Turn to climb it was all good. Gate to gate today and down Mystic. Rutty and rocky made the descent a hoot. Why are these retirement rides so relaxing even when you climb for 2 hrs! Off to Mammoth for a couple days of boarding and skiing with the little woman.

Time change, Tuesday afternoon and the Oaks.....means Tuesday Social Hour.

Headed out with @horsebikerider . We met up a friend of ours. Social pace. Lunch was haunting me....wasn't feeling so great.

A few ups and downs....Suz was heading to the barn. Our friends were heading home. I went for one last extra credit climb.....got a text that @H2oChick & @cajun were coming up behind me. Turned back and continued social hour with them. A few more ups and downs then finally headed home.

Rolled in way after dark....I love long days.

Dakota Ridge was NOWHERE NEAR that chunky when I rode it in the mid to late 1990s. My God - and the exposure. Those two riders are ridiculously confident and skilled. The stair climb - the ledges - the drops - good lord!!! I probably need to go back there and demo a Smash on that trail. I will wear pads, and I will walk a lot.

Interesting - the parking lot at Bandimere seemed quite full (3:51) but the drag strip was empty (6:01).

BlackSlow this morning. Not riding much for three months sure does make basic trails hard again. Ugh. Beautiful day out though.

Well... It started out as an LSD Maple to Motorway loop, but at mile #3 something happened, and it became a sprint until mile 6. Not sure what happened there. Maybe it was the dry dirt? No snow? No ice? Lack of shifting? I ran the Tin Lizard in the 32x21 for the whole loop. Whatever the reason, it was fun to push like that for a few miles.

The rest of the way across Main Divide was pretty uneventful... Well, except for the flat tire. Not mine. I don't run anything with the word "race" in the name. :whistling: :p

Do you have a license to fly that bird?

Back to Weds. Maple Springs / Motorway with @Faust29 Got out early with a 2:00 start. Warm'ish temps.....at least compared to what I have become accustomed to out there, especially in the afternoons.

Good amount of water flowing in the crossings. However, the dirt was dry for the most part. We took it easy on the pavement...then the pace picked up once we hit the dirt.

Made it up to 4 Corners in an acceptable time. There was talk of a Modjeska Peak extra credit.....however at 4 Corners, it was looking pretty nasty up there, so we skipped it.

Poppies were going off across the 15 Fwy......

    IMG_4635.jpg IMG_4636.jpg IMG_4638.jpg IMG_4641.jpg

Was feeling good on the ride across Main Divide. It is beat up pretty good. It was beating me up pretty good on the SS.

On the DH past Bedford, my beloved Rekon Race finally met it's match. A sidewall cut big enough to put my thumb through. Booted and tubed it. Legs got cold. The climb past Bedford hurt.....alot.

We made it to Motorway without too much trouble.

The run down Motorway was....reserved. High tire pressure + worn down semi knobs = No braking. Still fun.

My bike did decided to take a nap amongst the poppies.....

Got out to Santiago Oaks yesterday afternoon for a mid week spin. A handful of ups and downs on the normal list of trails. Still caught off guard by how much growth has happened. Parts of Cactus are almost completely grown over where you cant see the trail. I like it! The dirt felt much drier than a few days ago on Sunday.
I ran my suspension a little lighter than normal. Three lbs less in the Pike @ 70 lbs and one lb less in the rear Monarch @ 209 lbs. What a difference that made, the Pike gobbled up the top chunk on Hawk like it child's play. Got in just over 12 miles and was headed back to my car as the sun was setting. I like riding my bicycle in the hills.

I will say the FR is not the same FR you rode a few months back. The rain has taken its toll on it.

On a positive note.....I did get 875 miles out of a lightweight race tire that only came with 1/2 the tread of a normal tire.

Little hour spin @ Oakmont while the team practiced. I let them do their thing, and just go do mine.
Not 100% sure if that's what the coaches want me to do, but I can't keep up with the kids, so it's what they get!

If you leave it up to the coaches they'll quit riding in less than a year. Most of them, anyway. It won't be fun.

Black Star social Thursday... Up and down with the Professor, Professor Junior, and @mtnbikej . Nice temps, but quite breezy for most of the ride. It almost made me reach for the shifter and bail on the 32 x 21. Almost... :p I'll get my single speed legs back... We also ran into an IMTB lurker who likes the northern end of the Santa Anas and the Fullerton loop. I won't call him out, but maybe he'll come out of the shadows on his own one of these days.

Stopped at the indian rocks on the way down... And shortly thereafter we ran into @Stkx66 and his daughter who were on the way up.

    17 miles and 2500 feet.
