I met Gabe several years ago on a San Gabes ride. He showed up on a downhill bike. I laughed. Then I cried. He schooled everyone on the downs and ups!

While most of you were up riding in the snow and slush, @SnakeCharmer, David and I headed 40 miles in the opposite direction.
Rode space mountain (Los Robles) in Thousand Oaks.
Trails are in good shape out there. Almost totally dry yet still on the tacky side. Lots of rolling XC style trails with a couple of punch you in the gut climbs to keep ya honest.
Rode from the Moorpark trailhead to the northern end of Pt Mugu state park.

The first gate on Bell was open, and there was no closed sign... But there was a sign at the top of Starr Rise saying the park was closed until further notice. So it looks like they're leaving the Bell Trail open for the locals. O'Neill is doing the same, even though the Arroyo should probably be closed for now.

    28 miles and 2600 feet.

    On the way to Caspers...

That time of year for rut and stream hopping.
Trail damage and downed trees added close to an hour to my last Strawberry loop.

@Faust29 - you ever get any winter boots? Pants?

I have the Gore pants, but haven't tried them yet. I was going to send them back for a smaller size, but then I tried them on over a complete outfit and found they cinch up nice at the legs. Baggy, but not too much with the legs tightened up. They were in the pack on our snow ride the other day, but it ended up being 50 degrees at the top!

No boots yet, but I'm watching the sales. I need to replace my water logged Garmin first. I'll probably end up with the Shimanos, but I wouldn't mind trying on a pair of the Special Ed boots first.

I had to deal with that tree as well. I was in my back up shoes, so I just walked the streams. Couldn't tell how deep it was.

Yeah, I'm guessing with a properly indexed paddle I could certainly nail my right hand roll. My left hand roll was always a bit weaker.
I never tried to master a no-paddle roll.

I have the Specialized Deflect pants and they have a baggy fit that works over a stout base. I have to use strap to seal them by the ankle.
Got some Fox Defender mtb pants on order. Not waterproof but coated with DWR

My Shimano MW-81s have finally sprung a leak. Left shoe, outside horizontal seam. Pretty small but it's there. These are a warranty pair so I'll be buying new boots in time for next season.

I'm making do with the wool socks and Gore waterproof socks... This past Saturday I went with some higher ski socks under the waterproof socks, and my little piggies were toasty in the mid 20s. I had my doubts, but it worked!

I'll be watching for the winter sales if winter ever ends...

Interesting thought. I haven't rolled a kayak since 1996 or so. I do get a hell of a lot dizzier rolling down a grassy hill with my daughter, but that's about ten rolls in a row. Hopefully I could handle 180° at a time. Then again - I don't intend to get back into whitewater kayaking in this life. Still - you've intrigued me enough to want to try. Do you still have a boat, spray skirt and right-hand paddle?

Well, The Professor needed to come by and pick up his bike now that I fixed the back brake. He wanted to ride....so I offered up a tour of the Oaks.

We rolled from my place. We started off easy with a climb up Oak, followed by a run down Yucca. Up Coachwhip, and Deer CCW. Fast run down Barham Ridge. Fast run down Cactus. We ran into @horsebikerider at 4 Corners. She headed up Coachwhip, we went up BumbleBee. Fun run down Hawk. The Professor took a small tumble...he cleaned the hard part and crashed on a flat section. We headed back up Goat to BumbleGoat where we ran back into Suz.

Got my feet wet riding across the river on Pony Trail.....twice.

The Professor had a good time....he will be back.
