I had a section of RSR to pull flags (dirt) and stickers (road) on. The boy and I went up and turned it into a little 16 mile loop in the wash trails which are some of my favorites. Did all the work on the route up, so we could hustle on the way back down. I hustled a little too close to a cactus, and impaled my hand and forearm in about 30 spots. Hopefully NBD, but the last time I did that it took a good year till I could use my hand properly.

You guys look so...... happy. :gotnothing:

Are the feet outside of shoes... dry due to waterproof socks? Cuzz they sure don't LOOK dry. There are easier ways to wash your shoes... Just sayin'

Hmmmm... Maybe @Cougar has passed on the title of "Cactus Man"?

Couldn't resist... I hope it isn't that bad this time around.

It really started coming down when we got up top, so I decided to put on the new rain pants for the ride down. They wouldn't go on over the shoes, though. I figured it was the perfect time to really test the waterproof socks.

My under socks were still dry when we got back to the cars, even after the picture you see, and all of the creek crossings down below. Gore FTW!

Yeah... Wait a minute. We look a lot happier than that picture of the guy who was dumping water out of his shoes last week. @Mikie . :p:D

Hey! I was smiling with my soaked wet socks! It was a relatively warm day. If there was any "grump" in that pic it was me taking my bike on a mud bath. Things get squeaky. Mikie hates squeaky!

Same pair that made it through a run on the Great Divide and the AZT – with lots of life left! Discontinued model; the two pairs I had were a great deal at $70 each. IMO, just about any shoe with a flat, sticky sole would work great with waterproof socks and covers/overboots. A pair of GTX shoes or waterproofing treatment would take it to the next level.

Maple Springs yesterday with @jdubb. Still good amount of water at crossings and creek. Dirt trail had some soggy sections that seemed to zap my energy. Sore knee and quad all day. Still a great day in the Santa Ana Mts.

Real stiff this morning... that's how it starts. Basically feels like arthritis, needing to constantly stretch out and maintain ROM on it. Hopefully no bits left inside...

The boy has some pics of it here: https://www.strava.com/activities/2189847048

Ahh the memories of being stabbed by cholla after an errant line choice... PCE.

Try putting a strip of duct tape over the affected area for an hour or so. Rub it in occasionally and then tear it off. Helps to get out any lingering needles....

Went out with the intention of doing a few hill repeats to keep the legs loose for True Grit, and ended up doing 32 miles on the Chameleon road bike... It's a little heavier than the real road bike, but it rolls well. :D

The removal of the duct tape also takes your mind off the pain from the needles....

The thorn poke into a joint is actually called Plant Thorn Arthritis..it’s a real thing and like you said, is very painful! I’ve had the same twice from Yucca plants! Once while on the mtb I was stabbed in the ankle...swelling, heat, pian and stiff, I couldn’t even run for over 1wk! Hope you heal up fast buddy!

The Iron Horse in my user pic is a former Dino bike. The Salsa I'm riding in Ricky's pictures is a loaner from Dino's shop.
