Yay that's awesome, there's nothing like fresh air and riding your bike:thumbsup:. Those SCV paths are really quite nice. Your Santa Cruz looks f'ng rad too. I once did a headstand like that on middle merrill trail, had to take some time off the bike and buy a new helmet after that one.

Lol, I’ll teach you how to do a headstand, that way you can stop trying to do a lawn/dirt dart!
I’ll be on those trails a lot for the next few months to build up endurance if anyone wants to join me:thumbsup:
And...I love you for saying my bike looks f’ing rad:inlove:

I rode out at Phil's World in Cortez, CO today with a local I met about 5 years ago. He brought along his 21 year old, way too healthy son and a couple other less skilled friends...one of which was on a 15 year old hardtail with V brakes and he forgot his helmet in the truck. :bang: For those that have never heard of Phil's World, in my opinion it's the single best trail system I've ever ridden. The local bike group leases the land so they were able to design it the way they wanted. It's 100% singletrack, 100% directional, nothing but MTB's allowed, no e-bikes and freakin' awesome. The trail that put it on the map was 'Rib Cage' but I don't even think that's the best section. The one knock you'll usually read about PW is the lack of legit hardcore tech as it's essentially at Intermediate playground. Within the last year, they opened a new off-shoot from Stinking Springs that offers a few double black features that were super fun.

Unfortunately since I was busy failing to keep up with the 21 year old, I didn't take a ton of photos but you can see snow capped mountains and Mesa Verde National Park from the trails. It's an absolute must ride location if you're ever in the area. https://www.mtbproject.com/trail/621788/phils-world

I didn't push Jennifer on the distance of this morning's ride because I knew she would be going to Me Spa this afternoon and I could go out and get a few more miles in if it wasn't too hot. It was in the mid 80s when I left but it didn't feel that warm. By the time I got to the top of Albertson there was a nice cool breeze. Just a quick jaunt up to Tower 45 and a loop of Norway then back home. Glad I went back out. I don't feel so guilty drinking that second beer today. Oh yeah. Jennifer made me some Sriracha tacos before she left. OMG!20181028_121633-2016x1512.jpg IMG_20180804_103626_609-2268x2268.jpg IMG_20181028_152054_814.jpg

My son and I rode Quail Trail down to Crystal Cove today. My wife dropped us off and picked us up at the beach. That's 1,777 feet of climbing for my son which is double of what he rides at Chino. He said he would do this ride again so I'm happy about that. He's making progress having picked up Mtn. bike riding recently.

1pm start up B*. I was a little concerned it would be hot. It wasn't. Cloud coverage and light wind kept it cool enough. Cruised up and down at a social pace with no-one to talk to. Tested out the new Thomson seatpost. No more creaking. Yay!

Well not today, but sat. mrng. after work met up w/ @Sasquatch9billion at the jpl lot. We rode up Fern trail to Brwn mtn. trl. over to Millard camp up the lower section of the Sunset trail which i always enjoy riding through then up the grind on Mt. Lowe to Echo mtn. After all that climbing riding back down via Sunset combined w/ El Prieto never disappoints!!

Today was a lazy day.....finished up watching Rampage this morning then headed out to LCWP/El Moro this afternoon.

Knew the legs would be tired, so I took the squishy bike.

In at Ridge Park, down Lizard, up Laurel, down Camarillo, up Stagecoach South....where I was nearly run off the trail by an out of control ebiker. Up Willow, down Old Emerald, up to Fenceline/Missing Link. Another ebiker went by and headed down FL/ML. I gave him some space then took off.....caught him a few turns down. Followed him for a bit....he never stood up or got off the saddle. Finally got around him, then I headed to Red Tail/Rattlesnake. Been a while on this trail...first time on the Hightower....kept losing the line, but stayed off the P-Line. Back up No Dogs up to Ridge Park right at dark.

Ran into @Mo Awesome at the truck and had a nice conversation with him. He's got some good perspectives on what is going on in those local parks.

Legs felt heavy most of the ride. Temps were cooler, but it was pretty humid.

Still good to get out. 17 / 2750'

Last night saw some little black scorpions, almost hit a Night Hawk. The little guy disappeared under my front wheel, but made it out to the left. Today I got out earlier and watched 100's of crows head through a saddle. They were in small groups but as I looked down on them they just kept streaming in. On my way back, more crows and was treated to a head on with a Peregrine that was at my height coming up the trail as I was dropping. I saw the bird heading my way but did not know what it was until it turned off about 10' in front of me. Gorgeous Falconiform.
    Happy trails in natures wonderland.

Harding to 4 Corners Sat. ride.
Previous Sat. got my fill of motor vehicles and gunfire on the Maple Springs Motorway Loop. This Sat. decided to visit Harding Truck Trail free zone and enjoy its sufferings instead. Had gone up n down HTT in May and June prior to the Holy Fire. At that time it was in the best condition I'd ever seen it in. Someone(s) had created a clean line with no loose rocks from top to bottom. It's not like that now. During the Silverado Fire closure I rode up HTT, 27 times. Ugh . :gag: Until we get some rain and the Maple Springs gate gets closed I'll probably be back there a bunch more. Like to keep my Avg. Elev. Gain above 150 ft per mile. HTT certainly provides that. 18.7 / 3465'

Did a big loop ride from Lagunas to Cuyamaca today, starting an hour before sunrise to get to the good views for sunrise. So worth it.... Rest of the ride was good too.

Well for starters, I don't get up that early and to be honest, I'm always following somebody around on Cuyamaca rides so I'm not sure I have a clue on this route. Cuyamaca isn't my favorite ride as there is also a plethora of fire road climbing. When I go out that way, we ride Big Laguna and/or Noble Canyon but I'm sure I could find time to ride while you're down this way.
