I go out and get wet before I fully put the suit on, and go out to wash the booties out when I am done. Some say the water gets a little warmer but I never noticed.

71 again, started after dark so it was illuminated all the way. Small slice of a new moon out there so the best rides will be over the weekend. The autuminal equinox is upon us and we are 1/2 way to longer days again. In the mean time I will see more of you out there after dark, saw one tonight.
Welcome to the dark side, happy trails

Went out for a quick fire road spin. Trying to take it easy before the Tehachapi Gran Fondo on Saturday. Late start but the temps were still pleasent. Only saw two other riders at the bottom of Palo Comado. Nice day for a ride.

I rode Hurricane, Utah rim trail today. I swapped out my 29rs for my 27 plussers. Good choice. Plenty of chunk. 13 mile lollipop. My wife and I are only here for a day.

Thursday night Sycamore. Had a good time. 10 miles of sweating. Pushed the pace of the group, I think they missed me the last few months. My participation has been non existent. Trying to change that.

Eight-mile Ophir Creek Trail drops off the Tahoe Rim Trail not far from Tahoe Meadows/Mount Rose Highway, all the way down to the 395. The signage reading Bikes Not Recommended encouraged me to give it a go, so the Weaz and I charged it at lax-thirty with some vague idea of a self shuttle.

    It got good right away...

    ophir1.jpg

Then it got better. Fully engaging riding of every description, but most notably, low-speed picking through steep chunk. A jumbo alpine Joplin. Several dismounts until finally you hike down a drainage, then back to seldom-ridden ST with some sand, loose dirt and rock, rock gardens and whatever else you can think of.

The weze and I agreed it was a damn fun romp, giving it 4 of 5 stars in the challenging-terrain riding vein. To quote the weez…Bicycles Highly Recommended! I haven’t heard giggles like that from her since when…it’s like Upper Holy Jim in the woods!...

    ophir10.jpg

The hitchhiking was not good at the bottom, so after a short effort I grabbed my bike and headed toward a shortcut I saw on Gmaps. Gated road, then another gated road…I was committed to the road ride back up. The wind was quite unkind, and once the bike lane ended partway up Mount Rose Highway I chucked my bike in the woods and hitched a ride to my car, grabbed said bike and scooped up the weez down the hill.

Super fun day, and fun trail if you like it rough-hewn.

Fun little late morning ride, turned into the social hour! Immediately ran into @riiz who was meeting up with another friend. The three of us took off up the hill, explored some new to them trails, meandered around to the local frozen custard stand. Then farmer's market where I was dropping off some parts to another friend, then home. But then we were over-taken by some some Stada Rossa buds so we talked shop about that a bit. Riding bikes can be exhausting!

As Whiting is in powder mode figured it'd be a good idea to ride a trail I haven't done in a while, and toss in some new to me dirt too.
Last week I did a similar ride and decided on a repeat today. The intention was to have some fun and do WaterWorks again.
Started near the Taco joint in Santa Margarita that @Faust29 likes to frequent. then through the entrance of Coto De Caza and down to Water Works trail. Repeated WW a few times :) then headed back up to make a nice loop.

Looks like Ladera has some new single track around and I'll be doing some exploration . A fun time for sure.
    20.8 and 1590'.
