I went with the Session 5, due to the size. I used to have a Hero 3, and it was good enough for me, so I figured this little guy would do the trick. I really like the idiot proof single button operation!

I only shot at 1080 today and the quality is decent for me... My "real" camera shoots 4K, and I don't usually use it with the file sizes that it produces.

    Noooooo it doesn't.

It's getting beat up....loose and rocky....but the ruts are not an issue. Just don't use your brakes and your roll right through them.

Wait - what happened to your response in which you answered my questions - you know, what you like about it, how it compares to your previous bike and your biggest surprise? You had a great response.

Also, what's with the Avatar? Trying to trigger migraines or epileptic seizures? Bring back the banana!

Bonelli loop, was going to try the inner loops they use in the recent golden state series since is been over a year, but as soon as I started out I saw flags and markers for the xterra race which apparently was today. Rerouted my course to avoid them, and did my usual loop.

My initial plan was to join OTB's Sycamore Canyon ride but I made a last-minute decision to ride from home. I know. Boring. I texted my buddy Tony to see where he was riding today. Him and his buddy Jack were headed over towards Rocky Peak so I saddled up and headed over that way. I ran into them within a few minutes. We hit all of the local stuff on the way there. Big Sky, Tapo Canyon, Chivo, Las Llajas, Oilwell, Seashells and finally Rocky Peak.

At the bottom of Rocky Peak we crossed the freeway then took Stagecoach into Corriganville for a lap of fun. I went down a section called Giant Steps followed by Jack. While waiting for Tony to come around (he doesn't do a lot of technical stuff especially anything called Giant Steps) we look up and he's on the ground. He decided to follow Jack and got hung up on one of the "steps" and went down. We both ran up to him as he was slow getting up. Turns out he fell into some shrub and his helmet was stuck on a branch. His leg took the brunt of the fall. His Bontrager CF bars snapped at the grip. He must have hit the ground pretty hard. Fortunately the bars broke on the outside of the brake mount so there was enough there to hold onto and ride home.

I ran my plus tires this weekend as I wanted to compare the rolling resistance of my 29x2.6 Rekon to the 27.5x2.8 Minion DHF. Turns out my suspicions were correct. Even though the Minion is 200g heavier and a little wider it rolls so much better than the Rekon. I was able to spin top gear on the road ride home with little resistance. I also had no fear bombing the chunky stuff today. Why didn't I buy a bike with no wheel size options?! :Roflmao:Roflmao:D

Ended up with 33.1 miles and 4,439'.

Do you ever have one of those days when your bike is silent? No chain sound, no creaks, cracks, squeaks, rattles, clunks, grinds - just silence. The occasional "shwoosh" of the rebound damping and the sound of tires on dirt. Today was that day. I love to notice when there's nothing to notice. In praise of stasis. It won't last.

First time riding with a full water bottle on my bike since 2002. It may have been in my head, but when I took to the air, the bike felt a little different. Probably just thinking about it too much. The good news is, I hit the choppiest stuff I could find on 5-Oaks and Rock-It and the bottle stayed in.

I also discovered if I'm only going to carry one liquid, it needs to be plain water. I had a scoop of Skratch in the bottle and felt a need to rinse after drinking.

Now to figure out how to carry all the other crap I won't ride without, and no, I don't want a saddle bag or frame bag. I guess that leaves fanny pack.

Quick lap - 5:00-6:00pm. 7 miles. 1100'. Silent bikes are fun! Oh and the suspension is working great too. I know you were concerned.

Perhaps the sloshing of the fluid inside the bottle masked the usually bike sounds?

I rode Aliso at mid day. It was very hot and humid, but there were not a ton of other riders and hikers out as a result. Twice down Vista & Lynx, twice up Cholla, down Rock It, up Mathis, up to TOTW, down Car Wreck and out. 13ish miles and about 2,400.

I did not encounter a single hiker or rider either time down Lynx, and only one other rider on Rock It. He was all the way to the right going down the rock garden section so he did not influence my run.

The hikers were apparently all on Car Wreck. Just as I started there were 5 climbing up the first drop, so I stopped and rode back out to Mathis in an attempt to reset my Strava, but that did not work. It was clear until about 30ish yards before the car where there was a crowd of about 10 hikers coming up the super steep part. They all froze in place for me, but I found it a bit stressful making my way through them.

It was a pretty fun ride for the most part, but I wish I had started earlier.

An uneventful ride on Exploration Trail today! I had to work hard to pull the boy out of the couch, but I think he had a good time up there. Cup o' Noodles in the car, bottle full of Tailwind seemed to keep the bonks away. Rode Keller Peak Rd up, and stopped a few times to scamper on the rocks. That's what he would rather do than ride. But I got him keep on going. 71F out when we parked and when we finished, made for perfect weather. Ground was really dry, couldn't tell it snowed last week! But no dust, so it helped. I had a great time on the trail. I think I like the technical stuff. I don't go super fast on it, and choose safe lines, but I really enjoy the challenge. He on the other hand prefers buffed out flow trails I found out today. I believe the quote was "This trail is worse than cancer." But he pulled it off without loss of blood or mechanical. A quick 30 min drive back down the hill. Good times!

Strava tells me I am 257 of 263 on the loop, and I'm pretty ok with that!
