It's a handlebar mount with the camera hanging down from it. You can see it in this image.

Oh, I almost forgot to report the outcome (or lack thereof) of my new side access bottle cage:

Two enthusiastic thumbs up! The bottle was affixed as though it was Super-glued into place.

Only had a one day weekend thanks to work so I wanted to do a biggish ride (for me). Saw a couple of rides posted up but wanted to sleep in and not drive too far. I had a ride in my head at Chino Hills that I thought would give 5k climbing so today was the day to try it out. Solo ride, the Trail Slayer was too busy... :whistling:. Rode around at a casual pace. Felt strong all day. Not too many people out. Covered most of the park. The WFO was noisy.:bang: Cassette/Freehub connection I think. Other than that, no issues. Mileage was less than expected but my 5k prediction was a little off.

And those are up-down-up miles to get that elevation... that has to be a 1.5 multiplier I'd say!!!

I hit turtle ridge, ticketron, rattlesnake, Fence line missing link, lizards, Camarillo, stage coach and quail trail.

Wanted to do more but did not have the time. No dabs on rattlesnake so that was good. Also no dabs on Camarillo so I would say a good day.

Lots of people out, all friendly. My favorite is every group of hikers that feel 5 wide is the way to go.

It happened yesterday... for the 3rd ride w/ my 10yr old whom I have been calling The Destroyer since he was in diapers. The Destroyer and I chose CHSP Telegraph Canyon for our adventure. It was quite breezy riding up Telegraph, thankfully it was also sunny. So, that helped a ton with The Destroyer and his enthusiasm. Made it to the first benches and turned around. I think that is good for him, being it is only his third ride on a MTB. He walked a handful of the little climbs and took several breaks on the way up. BUT, he was a hootin' & a hollerin' on the way back down. He even told me back at the car that the ride back down made the climb totally worth it. And, how much fun he had! We totaled 10.4 miles and millions of smiles. Elevation gain doesn't matter when I am with him. The main goal on each ride is for him to have fun and to want to do it again.
I am trying to find a way to push him a bit. You know, get him to realize that he is capable of more than he is doing. He is pretty sensitive to this type of thing and will shut down if I push him to hard. It happened w/ basketball. So, if any of you veteran dad's out there have some advice as to how to push him and positive encouragement. I will gladly take it.
    And, yes bikes are fun!!

    ^^

I had to take my truck back to the shop this morning for (hopefully only) some gasket-bolt tightening. So I rode home up Bake to the Serrano Creek bike trail and then cut-over to check out the Borrego trail work in Whiting. It's cx bike ready, and I even cleared the sand traps (on my mtb). Then rational extra credit on Cattle Pond, an easy paced climb up Mustard and an eye-ball rattling descent of Cactus. Maybe we'll get some rain and someone'll smooth it out.

I was craving a Tommy's chili cheeseburger, but had to dial it back to an egg white and turkey sausage sandwich on an everything bagel courtesy of the @dustyyoungblood "leaning out" diet plan. I'm bonking right now from the letdown. Sounds like I better get used to it. :bang:

I really need to make an effort to be more active on here but I get distracted by shiny things at times. Anyway, I rode yesterday with my buddy Ryan, his nephew a couple of other guys and a few groms in tow. We hit The Weed Patch aka SCST. It was nice to check that place out again and get out of Laguna in terms of riding. Of course I had to take zee gopro with me on the journey. This edit ended up being a lot more funny than anticipated so enjoy.

Also, it's been now a month of no cigs and my beer intake has been cut in half as well. I work out 4 nights a week at home and ride 2 times a week if it works out. I'm coming in hot to my 40s in a couple of weeks! !:whistling:

Outstanding getting the offspring out there with you!!

Pick out a landmark not too far above where he's already been, and ask him if he thinks he can make that. If he makes it his own challenge, it'll work.

I had to mis some lunch hour rides last week. I Could not find even an hour over the weekend to ride. This week is looking the same. So today I committed to do what i had time for, which is way better than missing rides all week.

Got off this morning to Sycamore Canyon in Riverside. The rain held off, puffy clouds, very few sprinkles and the dirt was awesome. Go to place after rain with DG. There are lots of trails I haven't ridden out there, but dis covered a couple recently

Tried to sneak in an afternoon ride up Harding today. Unfortunately ended up aborting with 4 Corners in sight. Temps dropped to the mid-thirties and the dark clouds were rolling in. I had a light wind breaker and a spare set of heavier gloves, but I wasn’t prepared if it got any colder or if it started raining. And it was already 4 pm. Made the decision to turn it around and roll back down the hill. A few patches of snow on the higher parts. 13.2 miles, 2,913 feet.

That was awesome! Such a smartass with the younguns, yet appropriately funny. "I didn't call you chicken!" Priceless.

Congrats on the cigs and beer too. Keep it up!

Wednesday night rides are back... @mtnbikej

An out and back to Old Camp. 40s most of the way, a little mud here and there... Down into the 30s for the ride back down. Lots of fun, even with the uphill traffic.

I'm glad we didn't do Maple-Motorway. Four Corners and higher looked like it was socked in and cold...

And, the 2.25 Rekon passed the test. No slipping on Goat hill, and no slipping on the climb out past the Luge flag. I think I'll get another one for the front of the Highball for VQ. Light and fast...
