Rode my bike today after being so sick I could not walk because I was so weak. It lasted about 8 hours Friday. Had this once before a couple years ago. Noooooo fun. At one time trying to get back to bed from a trip to the water bottle thought I was going to pass out. Whew nasty. Did Itchy Scratchy and Webb this afternoon. Felt ok. Gonna ride Friday if anyone wants to join me.

I rode my bike yesterday (all by my self) and riding it tomorrow!
P12 is back on my menu since, "The days grow shorter and the nights are getting long, Feels like we're running out of time." <--Who can guess who said that?
    Riding there tomorrow after work...

The Bomb can barely walk one day, and a few days later he rides, I mean slides, Itchy-Scratchy to Webb.

    I rode my bike today...

I met @mtnbikej, @Grego, and one other rider who is lurking in the IMTB shadows. I won't call him out until he is officially on board. He is an awesome rider, however... And pretty well known around here.

The climb up Maple Springs was nice... Yes, the pavement is a bit of a grind, but it goes by quickly. Quicker when there is conversation. The dirt climb was nice and tacky, with the occasional puddle.

The rain we had earlier in the week made short work of the powder sections on Main Divide, and they are all cleanable now! No more walking in ankle deep dust. That was a really nice surprise. The temps were cool at Four Corners, but seemed to warm back up a little by the time we hit Motorway. Visibility was awesome in all directions...

Grego and I decided at one point to jump off our bikes in excitement... He went first and I sort of followed. :whistling:

Motorway is fun... What's not to love? It's twisty, rocky, narrow, and it drops quickly out of the mountains...

I saw Faust post up this ride and thought it would be it would be cool to join since I have never ridden this particular loop. Plus haven't been on Motorway in 5 years nor have been in the Santa Ana's at night other than B*. But doing this ride after a day of work would be a challenge and I skipped dinner. Met up with 3 fast guys, yikes, what an I in for? Well he ride went as planned. The climb up Maple springs was OK. Great views of the city lights. Cool temperatures kept me going. At one point going down MD around a corner I found myself in loose terrain. The tires started to wash out. I needed to slow down but hitting the brakes made the bike go down. I must have learned some skill from Bugs Bunny as he falls from the sky on an object. Right before he hits the ground, he just steps off. That's what I did, just stepped off. The bike crashed and Faust had nowhere to go but into the bike. Sorry Steve. No damage done though. Motorway has changed since years ago and still a sweet descent. Now I know what everyone is talking about when they mention those water bars... For some reason I thought they would be wooden. BTW, J is fast. I think he should race Enduro on his hardtail SS. Good times riding with Faust , J and the lurker! Looking forward to more.

Yup....once again for all of you that chose not to join in on the Maple - Motorway night ride.....y'all missed out.

I rode decided to ride in from the Tree Farm....gives me time to get the legs warmed up before we start up Maple Springs. Parking at the top just kills me.

Steve pulled into the Tree Farm just as I was about to roll. He was gonna wait for @Grego , do some bike maintenance, then drive up to the Maple Springs gate.

I made it up to the Maple Springs parking lot only to find the gate closed. The few parking spaces up there say "No Parking Sunset to Sunrise". Since there is zero cell reception back there, I back tracked down the road a little bit to the first place you can park on the side. While waiting there a friend of mine pulls up.....fancy meeting you out here today. "Is this where we are meeting Steve?" "You are doing the ride with us......sweet". He said something about someone had to slow me down.

Steve and Grego pulled in right after. We were off. We rolled up to the gate....all 4 of us took 4 different ways to get past the gate. The ride up the pavement went by really quick this time. We were not pushing the pace, but all the conversation kept us pre-occupied. We hit the dirt and daylight was beginning to melt away. Even though the gate was closed, we did run across 3 County of Orange vehicles on the way up. They were all courteous...not the regular "where's the mud" yahoos I would have expected out there.

A little ways up....'anonymous' rider and myself started to pull away....we were catching up, hadn't spoken in a while. We regrouped at the upper left guardrail turn. Finally had to turn the lights on. Shorty after we reached 4 Corners....again, it seemed to go by pretty quick.

Short break at 4 Corners....temps had cooled down a bit, threw on the arm warmers and we headed off. Main Divide got a fair amount of rain...sections that were smooth a week ago, were a little more "weathered". The powderpuff/silt beach section was hardpacked.....it had all been washed away. However those sections were once again pretty raw....but fun as usual. We did run across a few puddles and only one 20' section of unavoidable mud. Up the first of the 2 big climbs....just grinded it out. On the traverse over to the second climb, we rolled into a section that was a bit loose.....I had trouble making the turn....only to find out that Grego and Steve had a tougher time behind us. :whistling:

At one point 'anonymous' rider was back with Grego....I told Steve that he was just toying with us....had he been on his own, he'd be done already. Sure enough, on the last climb, he finally put the hammer down mildly and pulled away...."I guess he was done toying with us"

Motorway is Motorway and it just keeps getting better. It did seem like a couple of the water bars were a little worse...but still a great time.

Great night out on the mountain with a fun group.

Also did some unauthorized trail work. Covered up a stupid cut across that's about 15 feet from where two fireroads connect. Literally zero reason for the cut across. Wonder how long before the brush work covering it up gets ripped out...

Thursday night cruizer at Blackstar with my buddy Jeremy.

4:15 roll. Overcast, warm and humid. Not in any rush. In just 13 minutes longer than it took us to get to Beeks....Tinker had already made it across and down the Motorway on Saturday.

Got to the top in time for this:

    A Black Star quickie...

The temps weren't bad, but it was muggy the whole way up. I was originally going to go to Pleasants, but my 1 bottle wasn't going to be enough... And I decided to save the legs for Hell Ride.

No rain... Until I was driving out on Santiago Canyon. Just enough to make the windshield wet.

Plans for the Hell Ride went to hell in a hand basket. Nevertheless I still got a good ride in today. Up B*, across Main Divide and down Motorway. A loop I haven't done for years. Overpacked my goods as usual. Rather have too much than not enough. Especially since I'm solo. Got a real late start, even brought a light. Felt good climbing B*. A lot of hikers there. Rear wheel is making that noise again :bang:. MD was a ghost town. Cool views I haven't seen in sometime . 2nd time on Motorway since it reopened, this time in daylight. Nice! Uneventful day, just some good riding. I was surprised I made it to the bottom of Motorway in 3:09. That's good for me. Now I know I'd make it past the first cutoff if I ever wanted to try VC/CC.

Never mind me, the Weasel rode her bike!

Tuff little varmint broke away from duties to do a Holy Jim/Trabuco loop. Never a powerhouse, she got up the climbs with fierce determination (and some walking). She saved enough juice to have a giggly good time down Trabuco. I made her ride my 29er for a short bit...holy crap did we laugh, she was freaking sending the gnar!!!!!

Everything out there is nicely tamped down from recent rains. Even Main Divide is NTB, was able to pedal the 26/22 up every grade. No dust and few flies despite no cold temperatures. A tiny bit of Trabuco is annoyingly overgrown, not enough to matter.

Cheers to familiar homies and all trail users out there today (uh, yesterday) – good times aplenty with primo conditions.

    GO RIDE YOUR BIKE :)

Same ride today as the first one in this thread. 5-Oaks, Rock-It, Lynx and Meadows in that order. I started the ride with @littlewave and his younger brother Colin, but sadly ended the ride by myself. I got to the bottom of Lynx after a smokin' run, looked at my watch and waited. ...2 mins....3 mins... Uh oh... I started pushing back up and a couple of riders came down asking if I was looking for Brett and Colin. They told me Colin stacked up hard on a rut and had a bloody face and his jaw was a mess. :poop:  I started pushing up Lynx, but they told me he did it on the rutted section above Lynx and above the fire-road. At least that gave them easy access to exit the park and get to their car on Canyon Vistas. Nothing I could do to help so I continued on.

Perfect weather for riding. Overcast and upper 60s. I am having a hard time believing my Runtastic app which has the total at 2822'. Climbed up to 5-Oaks, climbed Cholla twice including the climbs up to Cholla from Coyote Run. On the Lynx run, we started from the top of Rock-It for some extra credit. I climbed Mathis to Top of The World over to Meadows, then climbed all the length of Wood Canyon back to my car on Canyon Vistas. I've seen that combo at about 3100' on other applications. o_O No matter.

Great day. I think Colin only needed stitches. No concussion, no broken teeth or broken jaw.

Bikes are fun! (?) Oh, and it rained while I was at the grocery store after my ride! :)

Rode old camp with a buddy of mine. Got an early start and had the trail to ourselves for most of the ride. The flag at the top of the luge was full of bikes after we dropped back down from Old Camp. We quickly dropped onto the luge in case they were all going that way. Temps and conditions were perfect today.

I walked and rode my (friend's) bike today (walked to move tools and bike, and save energy for digging/test riding. Met up with Jon K. who leads trail work over at the Oaks. He and I put in new drainage over the course of the first 2 miles of the STT. We also restored some existing drainage, filled ruts and made some flow enhancements. I got to session everything; then blaze back down when we finished. Jon's great and we got a lot done. It started sprinkling around the time we wrapped up, and it was raining by the time we got to Wahoo's.

Quickie. 21 and 3k ish. 21 psi front, 22 rear. Was cruising. Can't crash because of intense work situation. So I just tried to pick good lines, cruise and rail. PR'd Lynx, 5 Oaks, and stair step in the process. (?!?) Traffic on fenceline and lizards, so just cruised and smiled. TnA was open again. Took an absurd line off the ridge right down the gullet and cleaned it top to bottom, with a 2nd best time of my short career. Then on the Canyon a roadie blew by me as I was getting up to speed. Can't let that happen. :) then rode up to the pad. Now, I can work. Bikes are indeed fun!

@BonsaiNut met some unfriendly locals at Maple Springs the other day who gave him some bad information, so I thought an IMTB ride was in order! We beat the sun by a little bit, and left the tree farm at 6:00. @mtnbikej and @singlespeedrider joined the charge!

Starting at the tree farm adds 5 miles and 1000 feet to the beginning of the ride on narrow pavement that winds through the canyon. Even though the temps were cool, it's a nice warmup before the 3 miles of steep pavement past the Maple Springs gate. So... @herzalot wouldn't approve, but we first hit the dirt with almost 9 miles and 1900 feet. Maple Springs actually gets easier after the pavement, and only takes another 4 miles of forest road to get to Four Corners. Even with the extra 5 miles, I still think it's an easier climb than Harding to Four Corners.

We chatted the whole way up, which makes the ride go faster... Then the tire demon struck, and let the air out of my rear tire. Yesterday, it was the front, today it's the rear. This is also the weekend that my Crank Brothers pump decided that it doesn't want to pump air anymore. Thankfully, Bonsainut came prepared, and we got my tire refilled... twice. I ended up nursing it and adding air for the remainder of the ride. No big deal... The leak slowed and I made it through.

It's nice to see someone get new dirt for the first time. I think Bonsainut enjoyed the views from this end of Main Divide, and we took a few breaks here and there to point out the sights: Motorway, Pleasants Peak, Hagador Peak, the 15, the lousy climb, etc...

There was another group that we kept leapfrogging, and a few hunters out looking for Bambi, but it was pretty quiet up there...

Motorway is fun... What's not to like about a semi-chunky, semi-technical downhill that loses 1900 feet in 3 miles? At the top of Motorway is the "Ah-Ha" moment that you realize it's all downhill back to the cars... 3 miles of chunk, and another 5 miles of very fast twisty pavement downhill. We ended up playing "leapfrogging roadies" all the way back...

Bikes are fun! I think the next Motorway run needs to be Black Star- Motorway... Maybe one night this week?

Great ride! First time I've been north of Four Corners on Main Divide. Looking forward to a little rain and a little more green in CNF...

And I will state again for the record... what's with all the hikers who think the Motorway is a good trail to hike up? Though it did make me feel a little like Superman to cruise by them all on the downhill...
