Pretty low traffic too. Only a dozen cars going up, including a group of Porsches that weren't driving nearly as insane as they could have been. My GF was stressed out the whole time thinking I was going to die :bang:

And about 80* from bottom to top. It didn't start to warm up until I was 90% done, it was perfect.

Jennifer and I set out to do a metric but her asthma got the best of her so we cut it short. It was overcast this morning so temps were nice. We ended up with 25.2 miles and 2036 feet.

I wasn't done so after I dropped her off I went back out for a quick spin across town. I pushed the whole time and only rested at the stoplights. I felt pretty good. The Tehachapi Gran Fondo is coming up in a couple of weeks so my rides will be split between road and MTB. After that I'm seriously contemplating selling the road bike and getting a gravel bike. I can easily throw slicks on it and do road rides.

    15.9 miles
    822 feet

Soo happy to finally bend the knee enough to get on my trainer for the first time! Had to raise the seat and keep my left toes pointing down, but once the knee loosened up the pain was tolerable! Sorry for the crappy pic quality;)

Pretty high asphalt:dirt ratio, so I'll post here today. GREAT cool morning mean a lazy start and out to Highland. Followed the Shelton Trail along the hills, then zipped back home. Good times.

    Brings joy to my heart.
On my trainer I was spinning a tall gear at a cadence between 35 to 45 and keeping my heart rate at 95 to 105 (right around 13 mph) so I was in my Fat Burning range and actually lost 15 lbs! I used that goal to stay motivated...

May be a strained smile but it’s still a smile we have all been waiting for!

    I'm "abnormal" :po_O

    Gotta start somewhere!

If it's not on Strava, it didn't happen!

FYI, calories burned are calories burned. The thing about being in "fat burn" zone is endurance. If you are burning fat for fuel, you are good to pedal virtually forever (most of my riding is done here). When you are above that zone, you are limited to about an hour or two (depending on your body) before you run out of glycogen.

Yeah, my body has never been so static, I’ll def need to get some long “rides” in. Maybe even some intermittent fasting.
    Thanks for the info Josh!:thumbsup::)

I had a wonderful birthday spin with Jennifer. She's been on some new asthma meds for a few days and it seems they're doing the trick. Her lung capacity was only 65% and after the first 5-day dose she was up to 75%! It definitely showed today. She was with me on the climbs and at one point she rolled around me and I was like it's on girl! Yeah it wasn't. She has a sprinter's body. No way I could reel her in without coughing up a lung. I'm really hoping this is long term. She's been suffering for a few years now. It was a wonderful day.

I took a quick trip out to Sedona to do a loop with my dad. We had a great time. Temps were perfect and traffic was manageable. I missed riding the dirt trails, but my dad is not interested.

Jennifer and I rode the Tehachapi Gran Fondo today. Last year I did the 100 and she did the 60. Today she did the full Fondo! I am so proud of her! This is a great event and we can't wait to do it again next year.

Actually Jennifer has done several doubles. She just hasn't ridden that much in the last few years. This was a big come back for her. I'm still on the fence as far as doubles go.
