107 degrees for a very very long time on a very very long climb from SCV back to Palmdale. Bikes are DUMB! In the video, you can see the dance my nerves are doing inside my calf (I don't know how to upload it). It's not that exciting lol. It's a damn techno dance party in there! Great ride today. I only say great because I made it back home under my own power. I almost didn't think I was able, really. That heat did a number on me. First, the physical dehydration and cramping were tough but then the mental game gets involved and that gets even tougher. I am pretty sure I was daydreaming about a cold bath or even a hose from someone's yard on the way back. What an experience in the hurt locker.

I am with you 100% on that. When the weather said a high of 95 it just never occurred to me to calculate how hot the beat back from the pavement might make it. I mainly ride mountain and the dirt just doesn't present that kind of problem so I ride in 106 on the mountain without a problem. The 22-mile climb in that temp was the pressing the limiter for sure. I have no desire to do that again but sometimes you gotta learn stuff through experience.

83 miles on Monday and then I Peddled out a century yesterday. Flat tire on lake Hughes plus a nasty headwind all the way down making for a very slow decent. Dropped by @dvosuspension to say hi, then stopped in at @performancebike for a new tube then up San Fran. Dipped onto bouquet but when the headwind made me come to almost a complete stop I turned around. Almost home had 95, my OCD required the hundo. Listened to my #otushelmetspeakers for 5 hours until the battery died. That's with the volume up. Pretty dang good! #truckercoposse

The skimmers seem to be multiplying on rides as of late which is rad. @sir crashalot and I usually ride mondays and fridays after work. This time Brandon, Tim and Jake wanted to hit Tna. Brandon, Tim and Gary had ridden the trail before but it was my first time so I was a little nervous...:p Brandon was damn close to a full pull as was Tim and Jake. We did have a scary moment when Jake went OTB on the last roller. He came out unscathed probably due to his falling prowess from his action sports background. I got my first full pull since coming back from injury which I'm rather stoked about. That new fox 36 seems dialed now and is like butta. The vibe was awesome with lots of laughs and giving each other crap. As most of you know when your buddies get into riding their stoke in contagious. A great way to end the work week to say the least. TGIF party people. :gag:

Cool - but wrong thread, brother Taylor. This one is for road rides. (Although, technically, most of your rides include some road riding, so you could post here, based on rule 2743.6, ss a-c). However...

IMTB members, commence thread shaming ritual.

(Kudos to @Runs with Scissors for beating me to it.)

For some reason, I got the idea in my head that doing a big roadie event would be fun.

I should know better. All bicycle riding sucks, especially hard effort ones. Ugh. Did the Tour de Big Bear Gran Fondo HC. Technically not a race, but they still pay $200 for first place...so...race. But when Phil Gaiman and Chad Hall are there, you know at best it is a race for third place. Phil beat me by AN HOUR, Chad finished a minute back from Phil.

My GF and I went out to Palm Springs to visit with her mom, so I brought my roadie. I looked on the map while we were there and was excited to see that we were only a few miles from the Pines to Palms...so I took a quick spin up to the start of the Palm Canyon Epic. Took a photo up there, thought about how much I can't wait until it is PCE season again, then rolled back down to hang out in the pool.

That's a great road, with so much elevation gain close to the valley. Felt like flying.
