My Gravity Dropper has cracked. Had an increasingly noisy creak the last few rides and this is the culprit
    IMG_20200427_151803.jpg
This post is over 10 years old, requires little to no maintenance, and has always been my back up post for when my flashier posts needed work/warranty.
I sent an email to GD to find out my options. I'm hoping to be able to upgrade my inner post for a 5"drop.
    We'll see.

She lived a long and wonderful life! Well, maybe not wonderful - after all, her job was to hold up your ass and then get out of your way.

    RIP Gravity Dropper.

Sooooo, it wasn't the bottom bracket after all?
Bummer on the post, but you got great mileage out of it.

When I first noticed the creak, I suspected the post. The GD have a history of creaky post heads so I cleaned and regreased and it seemed fine.
The creak returned. After a wet ride or two.
I just fixed the seatpost, probably the XT bottom bracket. Pulled the cranks and the bearings are fine. Slap it all together, parking lot test...
    Creak!
Back to the post. Found the crack when I pulled the top cap.
Now my Chisel has a carbon post and carbon fork. Just lost 3 pounds!

I'm not mad or disappointed at all. I have treated this post poorly. Taken for granted, waiting on a hook, only to be thrown into active duty, and crashed, scratched, and neglected.
This old skool, low-tech, fun machine should be proud of the job it's done.
Has a lifetime warranty so we'll see what happens.

I hit the ground twice yesterday so, yeah. A diminishing co-efficient of friction doesn't help either!

So, strange dealings with Gravity Dropper. Sent them an email with photos and didn't hear from them for 4 days. Email said send it back.
Sent it back, delivered Monday, but no reply about getting it or what was being done.
Email today with just a USPS tracking number
    Hmmm...

Maybe the business is run entirely by robots? The response on their end seems so "cold and automated".

Wooo! Just got the GD back. They replaced the outer and inner post, re-installed a cable, and gave me another ugly boot to keep things tidy.
Came unwrapped in a cardboard box, no paperwork. Oh well, guess that's how they do things in Montana.
    I'm happy.
Gonna put this on my Fuse and send the TRS+ back for service.
