I DIDN'T Ride My Bike Today, Cuzz....

Actually got out of the shop before the sun went down today so I hauled ballz home to sneak in a quick ride. No sooner changed clothes and walked out to the garage and my damn phone rang with my main customer and I was dumb enough to answer it... At least he only wanted to go over the same damn orders we had already gone over about a half dozen times earlier today.

 

Combo desert trip in Cali and AZ.

It's that time of the year when I like to head out to AZ to fish with my former fishing tournament partner. He reached out a few weeks ago and said that I needed to get out there asap, and boy, was he right. We spent the whole day on the water and landed 72 fish between us. My best trip ever out there. Gorgeous day. Calm, sunny, warm, no crowds. What memories are made of.

 

OMG let me know if you are ever in the NC. I won't embarrass you by taking you out on our pontoon (with a Yamaha 350). I'll charter us a bass boat and we'll plug us up some lunkers!

I didn't because today the trails are wet and I do not tattoo trails with marks that stay. I didn't ride yesterday because it rained all day. Now I am Jonesing for my saddle and the trails

The day is young and I am uncertain already how it will go. I am supposed to work today but I started seeing an aura almost immediately when I woke up so here comes the migraine. First real one in a while. Lets see if my usual concoction of meds keeps it tame enough for me to function. Otherwise, I'll play the part of a cave troll today.

Either way, I won't be riding my bike today!

I may not ride my bike either. It's reallllly cold out there, and I've turned into a weather wimp. Cold enough that my windshield was frozen when I went to move the truck today.

70 in Buffalo the past two days...

 

Have been trying to get out to Morongo Valley for a while (thanks for 411 @SnakeCharmer!) and today was it. Very casual late departure, getting to Big Morongo Preserve around 2:30. It's a great little spot we've driven by many times and never checked out. Hiked there for an hour hour, then headed up to Pioneertown. I've never been there, and have always wanted to check it out. Put our name in for the hour wait at Pappy and Harriet's and wandered around. Came back, grabbed some drinks, and waited some more. Finally got a table just as the band was starting up. It's been a year plus since I've heard live music, and it was magical! Great place, all out doors, distanced from other tables, and DAMN, some good food! We finished eating just as their set was up, and drove the hour home. Perfect afternoon! If you're looking for a quick, easy, and free day trip, this one is hard to beat!

 

Had good intentions, but those went sideways. Ended up with a short walk at Wildwood S.P.
It wasn't awful.

Lake Perris. I've caught more bass there than in all other lakes here and in all other states that I have fished, combined.

 

It's the air quality... everybody is just a little slow in the IE.

Oh, you mean the fish... got it!

 

We refer to Lake Perris as "the toilet bowl" due to it's shape.

 

They have a decent trail network out there BTW. Especially in the spring when it's all green!

 

Baseball practice and now I’m coming down with the cold my daughter had earlier this week. She missed 3 days of pre-school and not it seems to have passed on to my son and me. Had a big ride planned tomorrow but had to flake because I’m coughing up slugs.

On the bright side, kind of, I worked out a deal with my boss to ride from 10am-12pm a couple/few times a week during the workday. The not so bright side is that it took my rheumatologist telling me that I’m killing myself with my stress and long hours to get this in motion. My inflammation markers from my blood test this week were not good at all and it has started to inflame my organs. I’m going to be cutting out processed foods and alcohol for awhile to help get my body back in balance.

I don’t over indulge on beers (often) but since I’ve been working long hours and managing teams in the US, Ireland, and Germany I haven’t been eating as well during the week. I’ve often been skipping both breakfast and lunch then eating crap for dinner. I only have maybe 3-4 cocktails per year so really just a few beers at a time these days. I just need to get my inflammation down and have a physical scheduled next month, hopefully my blood test results improve then.

Getting out for rides more consistently should help and I think I’m going to give meditation another try.

No, that’s what insurance wants people to try first but my doc was able to avoid putting me on that. If I were taking that I’d already be 100% alcohol free, I’ve heard it can wreak havoc on the liver. I take Stelara injections every 3 months which has helped me a ton. I rarely have any joint pain, in the past I’d limp into work in pain some mornings.

 

Allergies effed me up... down for the count!

 

I was going to ask if anyone else was dying… I’m back to hot tea bags on my eyes.

 

Came out of nowhere, and took me a while to figure out what was going on and why my face was melting.

 

My wife had beeen worried she got the rona... But I've been telling her it's the seasonal allergies...

This makes me feel more assured in my advice

Story of my life lately. I've only ridden once per week for the last three weeks. Life is crazy insane super massively busy for me. I get home too tired to lift a leg over the top tube lately.

 

I didn't ride my bike yesterday or today cause of yard work.
