Jaime, I feel your pain! I picked up the flu mid-Dec, was out for the count for a full week, and am still coughing and congested from it. Time, sleep, water, and codeine are the only thing that worked for me. Serious about the codeine if you're coughing. Don't mess with the OTC stuff. Oh yeah, this stuff is great as well. Reduces throat pain, and gives you a little extra something-something. Watch it if you get the codeine though!

Sounds like a flu, jaime. IME they go away after a day or two, but don't get too far down before heading into the clinic for real advice.

Try to stay hydrated...hope you feel better soon!

Take it from a former bartender, you want to load-up on the hot toddies and knock yourself out at bedtime with nyquil. Wake-up and repeat until it passes.

Also, never order drambuie or a rusty nail at a bar. A single bottle of that will sit on the shelf for years at any given establishment.

Treat a cold and it goes away in 7 days. Ignore it and it goes away in a week.

Down for the count for the past 3 days here too. Very very cold (light ) beer seems to help the throat and forget about it for a little while. A full night sleep is impossible with the hacking and aches and stuff. Keep saying "screw it tomorrow I'll ride my bike and kick it's butt" but have no energy to lift the bike into the truck... boo hoo

All that did was waste 2 minutes of my misery .

Jaime, if you're running a fever and aching it's not a cold. Most likely the actual ague.

    Aka flu.

threres wierd Sh!t going around this year. My wife has had zero appetite for 3 days (finally eating some soup tonight) monday she had a terrible headache and aches, first thought it was a migraine. better yesterday and today fever and chills and aches, not much in the way of respirsatory symptoms tho. probly some kind of flu. A month ago i had a sore throat for one day and otherwise felt fine, a few days later i was back to exercising and that goes fine, but just felt kind of...off for a couple of weeks with a slight annoying cough. Wierd. maybe she caught that and is reacting differently.
and yeah, fever, chills, aches ususally equals flu. Rhinoviruses generallyjust cause sore throat/stuffiness. And theres f%^$ all you can do about it except take stuff to mask the symptoms. If you have the flu, dont go pedal and "sweat it out". Rest.
Feel better everyone! isnt winter frustrating? tacky dirt, cool temps, green hills, and...uhoh im sick.

All sorts of weird remedies out there. Reality is that the best you can do is to make sure the immune system is working as close to 100% as possible, to cure it. Proper nutrition (don't starve any sickness, despite those sayings) and a full night of sleep are key for that. While you wait for the immune system handle it, you can address the bothersome symptoms to make things less unpleasant.

Some weird remedies probably won't hurt. I'm no doc and can't vet anything like this, but I heard that boiling orange peels in a pot with the cover off can clear up the pipes, and makes the house smell nice. Just happens that oranges are on sale, and remember you wearing a Smart & Final jersey, so I figured this would be an easy one. You can even drink the brew, but don't force yourself if it tastes awful. ;)

From my family members experience (I've avoided it), it's the type of illness that makes you think you are getting better, and then comes back to bite you a second time. Caveat emptor.

^^^ Indeed Oaken, yesterday I was feeling better but after going to bed, I felt worse than before and today after having chicken soup and a glass of fresh OJ.. a couple hours ago I started to feel better, but again, it's almost bedtime for me and honestly I really really dont want to feel worse like yesterday....like you said "it's make you think you are feeling better and comes back to bite you"
