HOCKEY IS BACK!!!!!

That made my heart happy!!!!

 

Help us understand how Marchand is your favorite player. Anyone would love to have him on their team. But, as a favorite player? He's the modern day Theo Fleury x2. I don't get it. Why not Pastranak, Bergeron, Foligno, Debrusk? It's because he's the most hated in the league, isn't it? I like him as a player and even more off the ice, but no way a fave.

 

Well, first off we'll probably have to agree to disagree on Marchand and his reputation which overall I don't think was ever totally deserved and definitely isn't now. He's done some off the wall antics like licking somebody's face in the playoffs but hasn't been suspended in a long while. It's not like he's out doing Tom Wilson type behavior, a guy who I think should be kicked out of the league.

But to directly answer your question, I like how the guy hustles and makes things happen and he's SCRAPPY!!! No matter what the sport, I want a roster full of players just like that. He's not the tallest, the biggest or the fastest but the guy produces. He creates turnovers, creates scoring opportunities for others and scores plenty himself.

I always like guys that play a little on the edge....I'm not really a soccer fan per se but have watched my fair share since my kids were in club soccer for many years. I like that Center Mid-fielder who is all over the place making things happen....or the free safety roaming around the open space in football like Jack Tatum, Gary Fencik, Charlie Waters or Pat Tillman. In baseball, I **HATED** the Cincinnati Reds growing up a Dodger fan but I **LOVED** the way Pete Rose played the game like mowing down Ray Fosse in the All Star game. Compare that to 90% of todays players who don't even run out ground balls if they think they can't beat the throw.

 

All valid points on Marchand, he has matured a bit. And, agree on the Wilson statement as well.

There is also a message board that sometimes has better action on it than the game you're watching. You can hide the chat if you wish. I started using this site over a year ago and haven't watched a game on any other channel/app.

I still want to take a 40-second shift out there with the big boys. I'd go into the corners with Doughty and cross the neutral zone with Brown. The only thing that makes me nervous is blocking a shot from Frk. All I need is 40 seconds (or less) to realize I'm talking crazy and should sit back down before something bad happens to me.

 

@DangerDirtyD neither one of those guys would even let you step onto the ice. But...I'd pay to see this happen. Not much, but I'd pay to see it.

We had a former NHL'er sub on our beer league team last night. It wasn't even funny how easily he skated circles around everyone. He didn't shoot, just set all of us up and only a few were lucky enough to finish, including myself on a clapper from the point!

 

One-timers feel so nice! Is it a contact league?

Kings - 2nd in Pacific with 78 pts
Ducks - 6th in Pacific with 65 pts and a current 8 game winless streak. Currently on the phone with @DangerDirtyD negotiating a contract

Can the AVs get past anyone in the playoffs this year? We shall see.

 

Ducks won't make the playoffs. But all the trade deadline trades set them up better for the future. Now if the coach will just play the right players
