Hello. I'm a relatively new MTBer.

Hello everyone! I work out of Palmdale and I met Mikie riding at P12 when i was just starting to get into MTBing and he mentioned this website. This week i was riding with "Michigander" where we saw Mikie. Mikie was kind enough to invite us to ride this Saturday (tomorrow). I look forward to joining you all.
I have been casually riding for about 7 months and still haven't got the hang of going uphill so much but ill get there. I look forward to finding new spots to try out throughout Socal. I have ridden in P12 as well as Marshall Canyon as well as some stuff near JPL. I look forward to trying some stuff out near my hometown in O.C. as i have not done any MTB in that area yet.

And what would that hometown in O.C. be? I just left the RSM area, and there is a lot of riding right from the front door... local trails, mellow cruises, county parks, death march material, endless fire roads, Motorway, Joplin, STT, Luge, San Juan, and a few more that were closed because of the fire.

A short drive from wherever you are will get you even more...

Perhaps we can ride some OC dirt and rock when I am back on the bike. Until then, ride a lot and write a lot!

Going from great OC stuff right out your front door to great Gabes right out your front door.....and here I am stuck with a wooden roller coaster for thrills - and it's still closed!!!

But....I do have the FLoop, so there's that.

 

There'll be beer (and soda...) in the fridge when the world returns to normal and the trails open...

Hopefully the boxes will be unpacked by then...

 

I was born and raised in Santa Ana. A good job opportunity had me relocate to Palmdale. Maybe one day I'll make a (glorious) return. I do often come back to O.C. to visit friends and family and enjoy the beach. So I will definitely be around for some O.C. riding.

Hey I think you should share some story behind that avatar. It’s kinda a good one!

 

Well...It was early in my still young MTB experience. I went with a couple buddies to a trail near JPL. I had my cheap hard tail at the time. (gateway to my current bike). I had just finished the climb and started going downhill. I was excited about having finished the climb in high 90s weather and started picking up speed to catch up with my friends. I was very foolish. I didn't know the trail. There was a section with some whoops followed by a right hand turn. I couldn't quite make the turn and I think I'll blame the terrible tires I had at the time. The bike slid from underneath me and I was launched like an ejection seat. Kneepads are still on my list.

I'll see if I can get another screen shot of the footage. For a split second you can see how far my bike was from me when I hit the dirt.

 

Works in Palmdale, lives behind Orange Curtain...that's some epic uphill right there! Cheers!!!
