So, it's not really a mountain bike ride report, but we did ride on dirt/gravel roads, and the bike wasn't a full roadie, so I figured it's close enough to share on here. We just got back from a great 10 days in France and Germany. One of the highlights was a ride from Heidelberg Germany to Ladenburg. We used a local tour guide service to hire Henry and rented the bikes at a local bike shop. The ride was excellent! Heidelberg is located in Southwestern Germany along the River Neckar and is known for their University which was founded in the 14th century. There was a very cool old town section as well as the ruins of a castle located above the town. Here's a shot of the castle. We did a tour of the castle on the following day. Now on to the ride report. Here was my trusty steed for the day. Not quite the same as either of my Treks or my Santa Cruz, but it worked well for the day. Here was our first stop along the River Neckar. There is a lock system there and we were able to watch a cargo ship being lifted. See, there was some gravel...... Here was the cargo ship that was raised in the lock. Shot of my wife and our tour guide Henry riding on the trail. The route we took closely followed the river and went through a beautiful agriculture area.
