Harding Hill Repeats - April 1, 2021

Please join me for no less than three round trips up Harding and back. I am finally going to get over this "I hate climbing" stigma that I have professed for the past 20 years.

Roll time 5 am. Thursday, April 1, 2021 Bring lights.

I'll be on a borrowed singlespeed.

Modified Route: Starting @Danimal's house, through Whiting, over to the Tree Farm, up Blackstar-Motorway, Maple Springs-Motorway then Harding-Motorway!

 

Who are you, and what have you done to/with Chris????? (4/1 be ignored....)

 

What gearing are you going to be using???

Oh you know, 220, 221, whatever it takes! Most likely my usual - 28 front, 20 rear. Something like that. Whatever my friend has on there. It won't matter. Three speeds, right? Sit, Stand and Walk!

Hmmm. Maybe I'll just warm up through Whiting, or start from @mtnbikej's or @Danimal's house. Thanks for the tip! I would have been kicking myself for not getting that extra 100'! If you join me, can you bring my water bottle that I left on your bench after my 1000' warm-up ride?

 

Suuuuuuwheeeeeeeet......we can roll from my place and go through Whiting....unless a Blackstar/Motorway warmup is much more enticing.

And don't worry, you won't miss the shifty bits.

Also....no lights....moon should be mostly full.....ride by feel.

Phhht - Inspiration Point - how cute! We climbed to Eaton Saddle and descended 2000' just to get to Inspiration Point, bro!




@Faust29 was working that Dodge Ram all the way up the 2!

 

This is awesome, and puts you above your 10,000 ft goal! be careful in those fire roads though, that's how I got my concussion!

I was at the bottom of harding at 4:45 waiting. Gave up waiting for you and just left. I really wanted to try out my new ebike on this ride too, but not going solo.

I did see the empty Specialized Levo box outside your condo though.

I am just about to the Christmas Tree Farm now. This is super easy so far!

 

I'm surprised you did such an early start. Seems like waiting for it to warm up would really compliment this ride.

 

I'm finally halfway up Blackstar (modified route from the title of thread) and it's plenty warm. I can see the Doppler ball, so I'm thinking only about 8500' left to climb today!

This singlespeed is awesome! Not nearly as hard on my knees as I expected, because I am standing all the time! Well, I better get back to it. I'm burnin' daylight.

I should probably post in the "I'm Riding my Bike Right Now Live and Direct" thread.

 

My daily stand-up should be finished in about 30 minutes, I'll dust of the singlespeed and meet you at 4 corners. I'm going to get @Danimal to tow me on his Levo.

One thing I've learned that it needs to be a tow chain. Straps aren't going to cut it.
I've got just the item to tow you with, it's a 15' chain that the Hummers used to pull out other stuck Hummers from the mud. Should be strong enough I hope.
