Coming up October 1, 2016. This one is a lot of fun; over 10K feet of elevation gain, one hundred miles and all in the Sierra National Forest along most of the Sierra Scenic Byway.

If you can swing getting there, it's worth it. Only $75 to register and you get sushi at the lunch stop, too!!

This is what it looks like, mostly. I flaked and stopped at the cabin in Bass Lake, shaving off a few miles but I got 99.8% of the elevation. It's a tough one.

Well, this sucks. Looks like this amazingly great ride is in a death spiral. Damn. :(

Aaaaaand, it's back!! I hope it stays that way. I think I'm gonna have to put this back on my calendar and do some prep for this.

I got the email notice today, and it's on an earlier date. September 14, 2019 (Saturday). It always conflicted with my better half's birthday before, this is serendipity.

100 miles, 10,000 feet of gain. I'm registered. I'm going. I'll finish. Will you???

I'm looking at it right now. Jennifer is on the fence with Tehachapi this year so I'll throw it out there and see if she's interested.

There's a gravel-grinder option if you don't want to do the Grizzly Road climb....I'm looking at that this year.

Not like that hurts any less, though.

No gravel bike and I won't subject my road bike to dirt unless it's absolutely necessary.

Totally doable on 28C, they say. I haven't actually done that section yet.

I know I could do it but it would have to be a perfectly smooth dirt road otherwise no. I don't want to thrash my new wheelset. Of course now you have me thinking I could throw some fat tires on my old wheelset. I could care less if those wheels get thrashed. Or I can just stay on the pavement. Duh.

All I'm saying is that the Grizzly Road climb hurts. It's the last 2,500-ish feet. Which you finish at mile 72.

I think you end up with the same elevation by using the Grinder bypass.....so I can't imagine it's any easier. o_O

I think this is dead. Only 31 people signed up so far, they offered a date change to October 5 or a refund. Then back to the original date.

Levi Leipheimer's King Ridge ride is the same October 5 date. The Griz has gone downhill since that ride originated. Oh well, I can always go up and ride parts of the Grizzly on my own.
