Pretty self explanatory question I guess but does anybody have any MTB related trips planned for 2019? I know several folks are headed out to ride the Kokopelli Trail at some point.

How about any non-MTB related trips to far off lands this year?

Last the moment. I personally only have a Sedona trip planned for March and have traded my timeshare for a resort in South Tahoe for a week in September.

I'm not a traveler, so "far off lands" to me means crossing the Colorado River (or state line) into AZ and maybe even NV this year. Who knows, I may even find myself in UT.

You instigator, Mike! :sneaky::thumbsup: If I knew for sure, I could say...

Sorry to my SoCal bros and broettes, but not planning much time down there in '19 unless CNF trails open up. We are pushing for more NorCal action in spring, but only uncertainty is definite. If yes it'll be in a good base for Oregon Timber Trail and Badwater-Whitney. Also, I have pending projects with some crusty climbing bros to get high on rock in Yosemite. Old habits die hard...

If not NorCal? Scratch all or most of that. Not worth pondering because it could be anywhere in the west. Just how we like it...spontaneous, if not crazy. BRING ON THE NINETEEN!!!!!!!!!!!

    :):eek::cool:

For sure I will do St. George and Brian Head Utah. My family owns a condo in the Giant Steps lodge in Brian Head. If anyone is going to Southern Utah and needs a place to stay let me know.

I will visit my best friend in Tahoe and get a few days up there this Spring and Summer.

I have promised to visit a old friend in Denver. The only way I'm going is with my mtb.

Im tempted to do a big festival like Sea Otter or Sedona. Never done one and with Interbike being canceled I feel like I need to do one before they all o the way of the dodo bird.

I've never ridden near Denver but Buffalo Creek in Pine, CO is on my bucket list. It's close to Denver. https://www.mtbproject.com/trail/845269/buffalo-creek-big-loop-imba-epic

I've never been to Sea Otter but want to go just for Vendor Row if nothing else. I've done Sedona, Hurricane and Fruita's festivals and IMO, Fruita is the best run event. Sedona is a much better place on a non-festival weekend.

The usual trip to Bend, hoping to extend it and get up to Seattle. Probably not a huge riding trip, more a family get away. I really want to get back to Hurricane for a riding trip rather than a National Parks trip. Maaaaaybe...

I'm considering heading back out to southern Utah in the spring, maybe even ride there; summer is cancelled; Bass Lake (Grizzly Century) in October is a distinct possibility. Spain next year.

I just looked up that Grizzly ride, surprisingly I’d never heard of it before. We vacation at Bass Lk almost every summer, this ride may be on my list for 2019 if it’s happening! The 100 miler has over 10,000 ft elevation gain!:confused::thumbsdown::gag:

But you get all 10,000 feet out of the way by mile 72!! Then it's a 4,000 foot descent from Cold Springs Summit to the Pines on Beasore Rd. That is a blast.

We can get you 10,000 on dirt... in half the distance. And you probably wouldn't be the only non-testosterone driven rider! #Wrightwood50

    As far as trips...

    • Kokopelli is a must after reading about it all these years.
    • Saint George for True Grit.
    • Maybe my usual quick one day ride in Oregon...
    • I might even make the haul to Laguna Beach or LA!
And a bunch of trips down the Luge, Motorway, and Eagle. Hopefully that end of the mountain stays intact.

It just seems unfathomable, at least at my current fitness level! I’d probably opt for the metric century...but will keep an open mind! Hopefully the ride is on for 2019!

I should be able to finagle a few more hall passes this year....

Visit the in-laws - Big Bear, several times
Visit my daughter - NorCal, but mellow miles for her
Visit my brother in-law - he's moving to Heber in April & the wifey-poo wants to go too, but the bike gets to travel
Does Redlands count? - Strada Rossa
RAGBRAI is off for this year, maybe back to Chino Valley/Prescott or up to the Lost & Found in Quincy
I really want to bikepack the North Rim of the Grand Canyon
Explore more of the gravel in Temecula and N. San Diego

Current plans are to hit all the Pro XCT rounds. Schedule isn't out yet, so I don't officially know where I am going yet. But should be the local races, Angel Fire NM, Vermont, Montana, and a few others.

If I am healed I'll race Havasu Havoc as a test race, think I'll be good by then.

It's a great course in Lake Havasu. Laps are about 9-10 not so easy miles, and beautiful scenery. I did the Attack the Crack 6hour out there a few years ago. If you like desert riding this would be a good one.

    Oh Yeah 2019....
my work has double my vacation time to 4 weeks this year, so will make a couple mtb specific trips.

I'm looking at scheduling a trip in May for 4-5 mights, with at least one day Mtb as the wife does other things.
Have a couple options that look good, but can't decide. Would like feedback on the a and b suggestions.

    a) Sedona is looking really good in May. Rent a bike and spend a day on some nice trails. All the videos I've seen are Gnar chunk-alicious and that's not my thing now, I'm looking for more blue type trails. Then a side trip to the grand canyon on the way home.
    ..or...
    b) Denver Colorado. Use this trip to demo a Gorilla Gravity bike. Heard rumors there are a couple nice trails Colorado, and again hope that they are not all double black. That's of course if I don't pull the trigger before then on a new rig.

I'm going to toss in a few nights in Santa Cruz to ride the Flow trail sometime this summer.

And in October, Italy! The wife really wants to do this and who am I to deny her? No biking though.
