I turned around a little past 15 miles, after I used my tube, so 31 miles and 4200 feet, I think... The last 5 miles were on foot.

But I got passed by Tinker.

These weren't the 2.8 "plus" tires, right? Don't know much about GMR but sounds like you wouldn't want to haul those up there (but then again, if they hold air the whole way.....

I put the regular 29ers back on last night for this ride... Mountain King 2.2s. The one that is now in the garbage was a year old. I was flying when the tube let go, and it went flat really quick- hit a rock and shredded the sidewall.

Coming down Lower Monroe would be a riot on the fat tires. It's an 8 mile downhill, mostly smoothish singletrack.

    Well that is a bummer.

Lower MTT through the creek has some sharp rocks.

Maybe we just need to take you out there, do MTT out and back and call it a day......or perhaps drop down the dirt road on the other side of GMR and come back up. Sounds like you and Baldy Village are just not meant to be.

I'm tempted to fill a backpack with 700c tubes and tools, and take a road bike!

It's fun on a road bike too. But a tad harder, at least on mine. The 34/28 granny makes me work harder.

On a positive note, I had a pretty good climb up Monroe... A couple breather breaks, but a good pace. I was going to take the road, but there were 100 roadies and the gate was open. The gate on Glendora Ridge, however, was closed. There were a lot of rockslides, some still on the road, and a lot of spots where I could see they plowed the rocks to the side.

MTT is a good climb. Never steep, but it just keeps going.

I still need to do Upper MTT and back. Looks like fun to make it a "whole enchilada": Lower MTT, Upper MTT and return, and down Lower MTT. Comes out to what, about 35 miles and anbout 5,200 feet?

3 flats? what a bummer. Should of just kept the 2.8's on but who knew. A do-over for a do-over, that's funny. Hopefully I'll be able to join you next time.

I'm game for this, but I think I'll do it in a group...Maybe with support vehicles.

I'd be in for this!! Dig MTT, going over the edge, not so much. Yeah, that's where I went over the edge.

I sense a plan forming! My next couple weekends are booked, but this would be a fun IMTB group ride.

After the TdPS, and with slightly warmer temps and I'm game.
