Wow! a 1st generation Bonty XR-4, before it was even called XR...Those things were my first venture into tubeless.

Good high volume tire. Rode it at Mammoth a couple times (on my steel hard tail single speed, got a lot of comments from employees, especially back then).

 

I'd like the 26" tire for my son's bike pls.

Awesome, thank you. His bike hasn't been off the rafters in over 10 years and while tires are practically new, they show signs of cracking. May not last the next 5 years of pandemic...

Nah I love riding but sitting in the rocking chair is even better.

 

Truth is I'm afraid to admit that I still ride a 26" bike fearing I'd get banned

But the rest of the mt bike world has decided if you aren't on a 29er - no matter your height - you ain't a mt. biker. It's painful watching videos of really talented women wrestling their gargantuan bikes down trails that they would absolutely own with at least a smaller rear wheel if not both. Friggin stem is at their chest when they stand next to the bike, and their shorts are worn from rubbing the rear tire. They are typically riding with extraordinary skill, but I just wonder "what if..."

 

haha, I was just messing... I've long been on a long travel 29er and after 4 29ers decided to try same bike/model on 27.5 and immediately knew I needed to go back to the big wheels for my riding style/pref. Maybe I'll just wait for the 32er...

 

Curious what trait you disliked when you went to the wee wheels?

 

In my limited experience, 29er seems "easier" both for climbing and descending. The oft use "playful" for the 27.5, I find
that totally applies for me as well, but only at my comfy controlled (ie slow) pace.

 

When I go back to smaller wheels (in my case a 26er) from a 29er, the main thing I notice is less traction on turns, hard braking, punchy climbs...pretty much on all fronts.

Commensurate with the free parts.

 

I like the increased rollover. If I rode faster maybe I wouldn’t notice as much but I like how much less often I get hung up on rocks.

We would never eliminate such a fantastic source of entertainment.
