You really are looking at electric cars, huh? FWIW, and you probably already know this, Audi is wheeling and dealing on the E-tron that you said you were considering. Seems pretty easy to get 10 - 15% off of sticker right now. Combined with $2,500 rebate from the state & $7,500 federal tax credit for purchasing an EV, plus $3K - $4K annual gas savings it makes an expensive car decidedly less expensive. Also, if you find one with the Driver Assistance Package (adaptive cruise control, etc.), Audi of America is crediting that on in stock cars, so it's basically a free $3K option package. But I digress. We really are running amuck in here - sorry @Grego. I think it's time for a proper car thread.

 

OFF TOPIC RESPONSE. Warning, this is an off topic response!

I spoke with someone recently about electric vehicles. I was told that the batteries do not last a s long as a gasoline motor and that they cost at least as much as a gas motor, sometimes twice as much, or even more than that to replace. I was told that batteries need to be replaced before 100K miles is reached.

If this true, then it does not make sense to me to buy an electric car. I keep my vehicles long term. I'm not a leased vehicle kind of guy. Therefore, no e-cars for me.

In my world, a vehicle is an extension of my character and personality, not a "machine" or a "means of transportation". That is sooo degrading...
