First rains?

The rain needs to stop around 5:00 am and soak into the ground by 6:00 a.m.

I see lightning flashes out toward the beach, but the rain is avoiding mi barrio so far.

 

Maple Springs is actually quite nice in the rain... It does not turn to mud like Black Star. STT out to the Luge is also usually fine when wet.

 

Had a black cloud follow me home and it decided to pee on me the last 1/2 mile. Stopped as soon as I hit the driveway but it smelled good for a bit.

 

those trails soak up the moisture well.

We got crazy thunder & lightning down in Oceanside at the moment. Not too much rain yet though. My neighbors girlfriend lives in Newport and she says it's pouring up there.

 

The FLoop doesn't do so well in the rain. Especially the Hobo Mud Bog.

Monroe handles it pretty well, though.

 

Yes, the San Gabes drain rapidly. Until you get down into the drainages.

Canceled a football game due to lightning and drove home through a hellacious downpour in Tustin and Irvine, with lightning 360° around me.

Not raining at my house in SoLag. Hoping there's a slim chance the trails will be open tomorrow. If not, I should go shave braking bumps!

 

Thunder be rumblin' shoreward of Anaheim. And it's comin' down pretty good here too. This could be a useful dousing.

 

I am in Anaheim and it started raining around Dodger stadium. Pouring right now. Hope it’s not like this tomorrow at Disneyland.

 

Unfortunately for your plans, the forecast is 60% chance of rain. But we won't get much, and a poncho will be sufficient to ward it off. Not to mention standing in the covered queue areas.

Steady, soaking rain here just southeast of Knott's Berry Farm for the last 30 minutes.

 

Last night through the present:

Spits of rain turned into occasional t-storms with moments of downpours but only chihuahuas and kittens. Saw lightning bolts a few times. From there it turned into mostly consistent light showers throughout the night and it continues on.

Finally, our part of the world got a good watering.

We are supposed to attend a pancake breakfast fundraiser at my daughter's school this morning but the rain may have killed that plan.

I have to work yet again today so let it pour, let it pour, let it pour!

 

Looks like some good rain for all except those on the other side of the hill to the north

Spoken like a true non-surfer!

Rain - especially early rains after a long dry spell - brings tons of Sh!t into the ocean - literally and in the broader sense. That and the fact that the waves are usually a jumbled mess due to accompanying winds means only the most foolhardy will go surf in SoCal during or immediately after a rain.

Besides. You wouldn't want me to get wet, would you?

Just checked Surfline. About ten people out at Lowers and six out at HB - north side of pier. There are decent-sized waves. Pretty crumbly and lumpy, but rideable. So it's just the septic factor to consider. Tradeoff with the low crowd factor.

 

On and off rain in RSM all night... But it wasn't supposed to interfere with the ride plans. I had my "winter" bag all packed, and was ready to roll into the weather. Then the ride fell apart with a 3 AM text... Maybe tomorrow.


I thought Upper Harding was going to be the winner as usual, but there are a few surprises in there. Southern Ladera Ranch close to the 74, Aliso Viejo, and Santa Ana had some good precipitation. And apparently, Disneyland doesn't do rain. Cast member with an umbrella over the rain gauge?
