Hope the Camp 9 hotshots stay safe. The backside of those mountains haven't burned in about 20 years

It's casting off a "end of the world" red haze down here in the OC.


Sucks for sure.

 

On the north 170 approaching the 5 fwy junction. Looks like it went way east from this angle. You can see the flames at the top.

 

Hate to see this so early in the season, so hot and dry and the Santa Ana winds aren't even here yet. Hoping the firefighters stay safe, they are heroes in these conditions especially.

I guess we will avoid the 14 on our return voyage from Tahoe. 395 or 5. I hate the 5, but it's probably the faster route.

Cars and streets covered in thick coat of ash and red skyline. Air is bad. Very bad. No outdoor activities for me. My sister is telling me the air quality in Long Beach isn't good either.

 

The smoke is pouring over the Gabes into the San Gabriel Valley. Woke up to a red sun with grey skies, smell of smoke in the air, ash on the van.

 

No bueno.

 

Other trails you ride often burn?

 

I guess the one question that always comes to my mind is, do they know how it started?

395 is the way to go. A much better drive than the 5.

 

Second that. 395-15-91-241 is better no LA traffic, assuming yore coming home late in the day when 91 traffic is the other direction.
More scenic too.

 

Just read that the fire has doubled in size since yesterday. This is what it looks like from the roof of my work in North Hollywood. Sometimes it looks like it's snowing outside with all the ash coming down.

From the backyard. Its snowing ash. I could smell the smoke in the garage.

 

Helos are landing across the street from me at the Sylmar Hang Glider park to fill water drop containers.

 

This one is pretty bad! Scott has a front row seat. pretty crazy in Cyn. Co.! So much ash that it looks like all the roads are dirt roads when driven on, never seen anything like it!

 

Don't be an ash-hole!

 

I just saw it's 11k acres. Can that be right? Damn, huge growth.
