@herzalot , I guess you can't blame a pro for going where the money is. As well, the R&D money "S" invests is pretty significant as well. Could be a tough combo to compete against...

The big S has been a big flop in Enduro, despite having one of the most lauded Enduro bikes ever - called the "Enduro" oddly enough. Curtis Keene wasn't getting it done, so bring in Jared Graves. Sam Hill wasn't getting it done, so bring in Aaron Gwin (also from Yeti - coincidence? I think not). I hope Aaron moved on this year.

Speshy spends next to nothing on grass roots racing and racer development. They just wait for others to do it, then poach the athlete. And some wonder why we dislike the evil red S.

I can't argue that. We are definitely on the same side of the fence. Go Yeti!

I just see an aging athlete that is taking what is probably some of the best money of his life, getting towards the end of his career. Take it to the bank. If Graves wasn't performing at Yeti he would have been dropped like so many others.
Specialized? Probably. But he's an Aussie and he may go Euro...

Sam Hill riding for an internet store?
Brett Favre in a Vikings jersey?
Kobe playing for the Ducks?....the Beijing Ducks?!?!

    Ha Ha!!!!

Jared's 33. He's got 7-10 more years of top level racing in him!

And I hope he does! He is an amazing rider and maybe he's the Enduro Ned or Tinker, racing till 50+.

I'm just saying that at that age, in any sport, you should be planning for the future. Brand loyalty aside, and Yeti is a good brand-I ride a 575, I think it is smart of him to grab some extra cash and hopefully prepare for the future.
I have 2 Specialized bikes also so Go big Red S!!!!

Got to watch this, this morning front start to finish! It totally makes me wish I was 30 years younger. Sheesh! 30 years!
I would be 26 years old and I would be on this circuit. My love for racing bicycles as a participant is so high. It's truly a shame we are not immortal. This is a great race format that I hope it continues to grow and grow!

I wish I were 12 years old again! Physically 12 years old...because, some would argue, my mind still has some catching up to do. Man, I used to fall off bikes, out of trees, and twice off a roof and bounced back like a champ! I hope I can ride like you when I'm in my 50s.

Hmmm, EWS action from 2016 must have anded in another thread, since this one is a year old.

Anyway, here's some great Enduro action to make you want to ride awesome bikes on fantastic trails!

    Here is the link: https://www.pinkbike.com/news/endur...v-deal-and-announces-new-presenters-2017.html

Basically IMG, a sports media distributor will make 24 minute highlight shows, and those will be broadcast on television, with a longer season wrap up episode. No streaming, cause Enduro events make for boring TV, transfer stages are rubbish and the course are too long for good coverage.

OK - Here we go. EWS 2017 kicks off in New Zealand. 7 stages in one day. 6000' of climbing. Over 7 hours of racing. That's why it's called Enduro kids!

One of my global buds lives in NZ. He rides Rotorua as often as he can. It's simply amazing there. He has shared many videos online.

As far as this event goes, his brother (or friend?) won the EWS Challenger Race, Masters 40+ class!

They just wrapped up a brutal race in Tasmania. Cool results sheet, IMO. Still a Richie Rude fan, but I like seeing Jared Graves, Sam Hill and Jack Moir having a good race too. And a first visit to the top stop of the podium by Isabeau!

Next round on deck. The island of Medeira off Portugal. Rain and slippery is becoming a theme in both the EWS and the WC this year. If Richie Rude wants a three-peat, he's gotta put up some good results this weekend. Go Rude!

Well - interesting results sheet. Rude climbed a bit, but not enough. He won the last two stages. Graves is back in the hunt. Sam Hill is there with Rude. Good racing today! This was one of the longest EWS races with 9 stages and almost 50 minutes of combined time. The big dogs rose to the top - names who have all been there before.

    Who's ready for Round 4?

I hope Rude shakes off his demons and continues where he left off in Madeira (winning the last two stages). However, I would put money on Greg Callaghan to come through on home soil again. Sam Hill, Jared Graves also favorites for me in EWS. Go full Enduro, brah!

I'm kinda diggin' these results today. Rude making up a little ground, even though he doesn't do his best on wet courses. Hill coming on strong. 20 yr old kids and veterans killin' it! Aussie, French, American, Canadian, Belgian, Swede, Norwegian, Irishman... very eclectic top 10-15.

    https://www.pinkbike.com/news/enduro-world-series-round-4-wicklow-results-2017.html

And this one minute clip should give you doubters a taste of the kind of riding these athletes do...

I was thinking today about EWS... Do you think they will ever be able to broadcast these races? The format would make it quite an undertaking: multiple days, multiple stages, no set starting times or position for individual riders of interest. Live broadcast seem out of the question. I like Rob & Claudio plenty, but I can't listen to an hour of their banter as riders casually make their way uphill and refuel. To edit the amount of footage they would get from a round, then script commentary to make it feel like a live recap... Could it be done in a timely fashion?
