Holy crap, now that's how you crowdfund. 600% of original goal in a mere day. Under $693 shipped is a nice price point to hit. Thing is practically selling itself.

This belongs in Free Zone. It's not about cycling.

Can I make this thread a Foe?

That bike seems to be everywhere. A lot of people on endless-sphere are talking smack that it's specs are grossly inflated.

It may indeed belong in the cycling section. Pedal effort on this bike over its claimed 50 miles is probably more than riding a conventional road bike over the same distance.

I doubt it could get 10 miles at its claimed top speed w/o pedaling.

...but hey, this might work in the favor of regular cycling. When the buyer of this e-bomination hops on a regular bike and realizes how much less work it is to ride a real bike, that thing will just start collecting dust.

I'm pretty sure a ton of people are putting money down solely on the video which shows a bike that's running double the voltage and 4x the wattage. It's far from a prototype they claim in the text of their campaign.

They're supposedly having a demo day on February 15 in Santa Monica.

It's the classic bait and switch. There's no way anyone is climbing the hilly section of the loop with the production model bike. No gears and a weak 350W motor with hills being its only weakness.

" Last summer, he saw a friend's fat-tire electric bike and loved it.
But it retailed at $4,000 — far more than Sonders was willing to pay for a bicycle, electric or otherwise.

I found that interesting given the cost of most real mtb bikes we ride.
