I have to say... EBikes certainly bring's out the worse in us...:(

I wonder if we poll to band EBike talk? Or do we promote the ebashing and flame the pro eBikers?
Or just leave as is and hope this enightmare goes away?

I think we should ban cyclists, promote couch potatoes and flame blue hairs.

Sounds like a win, win, win situation.

I appreciate your sensitivity, @Mikie,and I apologize for being my true distasteful self. And to anyone who found/finds my childish secretions offensive.

I was secretly hoping the thread would get locked. I guess that one really backfired, but all is well it seems. I think people vented it out and we can just muse about it now. @dustyyoungblood might not be done lambasting.:cool:

PS: @H20Chick, if you are anything like the weasel, you are shaking your head with a smile, dispensing pity for the poor savage gender entertaining itself : ) Cheers!

  18. I just listened to "the path" podcast episode today and Tani had some pretty interesting things to say about e-bikes. Cheers it's the end of days

I find myself almost arriving at the same conclusion. I do not want to "embrace" the motorcycles, but I do not want uneducated riders on the trails. I would like to see some kind of information dispensed upon purchase that is tantamount to a hunter safety course. Another thread talked about mtb licenses. The enforcement of an mtb license would be a nightmare I wouldn't ever want to propose, but the idea of systematized education for riders and potential riders needs further exploration. We can do this!

The bottom line is, we will lose trail access if riders of any kind of bikes are rude and disrespectful, and if they startle, scare or physically hurt other trail users. This is true whether it's a group of stormtrooping DHers bombing a two-way multi-use trail (Mt. Wilson, San Juan, etc), STRAVA junkies not wanting to mess up a PR or KOM attempt, keyboard junkie weekend warrior who has a momentary error in judgment or a neophyte e-biker using some watts on a narrow trail.

As for Tani's self-described evolution of his point of view on the matter, he has to sell bikes. His suppliers want him to sell e- mt bikes. That may be influencing the direction of his thinking. "I can embrace them, sell them and educate the buyers, thus I am doing more for the sport than IMBA or SHARE." (<<<< not really a quote, more of a hypothetical thought).

  23. I thought Tani's thought were forthright and interesting. And I know it's a thinking that will expanded and grow and shrink. All the more reason to classify them as motor cycles and ride them where motor cycles are ridden.

I disappear for a while and this is still an issue? Maybe there should be a don't ask, don't tell policy regarding e-bikes.

Just for information, and this represents a small sample size (10 or so). Every e-biker that I know of was/is an MTBer first. We were responsible then and are now.

There is no resolution to the eBike debate.
Closing this thread guys. There just is no point.
