Looks like Cathro is slowly working out the issues with Redbull. I think they should just hire him to be honest. He would really add to the production value.

That track is nuts. I imagine most of us would be ecstatic to clear one or two of the features on the course, or maybe one of the sections. To hit all of it, at top speed is just...

...World Cup DH at its best!!!!!!!!

Man, I love his vids. Here's another one he put out late this afternoon for day 2 practice. That track is gnar balls. Also, was it just me or was Sven being kind of an @$$? o_O

Those Cathro videos are quite informative. Thanks for posting.
What's the deal with this "3 minutes" thing he keeps referring to? Some kind of limitations for Red Bull? Pinkbike?

BTW - After watching over "therrrty menutes" of Cathro, I am beginning to think, speak and hear with a slight Scottish accent.

He pissed redbull off by breaking some rule unintentionally from what I remember. Since then he's been trying to get back on their good side slowly but surely. Like I said before they should just put him on the team and move on from there. Looking forward to seeing him on PB's between the tape manana. It should be great.

    BEAST of a course!

I wish we could see just how many 3'-5' ledges and holes are in that course. It looked like hundreds. Plus little slots between rocks that could easily shred a wheel, snag a pedal or break a rotor, roots everywhere - any one of which can send you sideways in a split second. And stupid steep. I like this sooooo much better than just a series of big jumps.

Our SoCal brother is hurt again. But I would not be surprised if he still puts down a top 10 run.

"That's racing... Success is never owed..." Aaron Gwin. Class act.

I hope his thumb is good enough to ride tomorrow, but if not, I hope he can salvage some of his season. Maybe a World Championship if the World Cup is a wash.

What a race! I am glad it was dry and consistent for all racers. I'll pretend there are people on this site who don't want me to throw out a spoiler, so I will refrain from telling you all who did well and who didn't.

But man, them Commencal bikes are sure seeing a lot of podium time on the WC-DH and EWS. Single pivot FTW I guess.

PS: LOVED Laurie Greenland's run best. Damn near got dumped on the first turn, then rode like a man possessed!

Here's a link to the results for those who are mildly curious, but not quite curious enough to visit Pinkbike:

Good to see some fresh names up near the top.

Sucks that some of the regulars got hurt.

Yes - I think Thumb-Boy is really trying to make nothing out of something. Or maybe he's trying to make lemonade from his lemons. Maybe heal and wait for World Champs? That strategy may have been better implemented a week ago however. 20/20 hindsight.

On the women's side, seeing the #1 plate airlifted out and subsequently cheering from her hospital bed isn't really what anyone wants. Glad it was a bruise and not a broken back. The women's competition has certainly become more interesting as others have found speed that compares with or betters Rachel Atherton's.
