Sorry guys went against my feelings of aproaching serious subjects here. For some reason this one peaks my interest. I have many feelings and a few more stories regarding troubled people and how they lack the fear of consequence. I am sure there are others on here with similar experiences.

 

Did anyone watch that 747 do a Phos Chek drop on TV? Dang, that's a lot of plane to be maneuvering around in those steep faces and canyons.

My CDF Captain bud who is stationed in SLO is down here fighting this fire now.

 

And the lady being interviewed on the news at her house that was saved. Everything, I mean EVERYTHING on her lot is PINK. Her house, her landscaping, her car, her fence, her driveway,...

 

Watched those beasts fly over headed to the smoke plume.

 

I think he probably does have the thought process to know what he is doing. These scum want to cause destruction.

I also think the TV weather is very slightly responsible. They announce FIRE WEATHER!!!! and these scum wake up from their meth haze and get ideas.

Came really close to idyllwild. Burned all the way up to the high country ridge in northeast. The gap in the fire below that is the fire scar from the 2013 fire. The arm of the fire south of that went right up against hurkey creek campground, looks like.
Very sad.

 

Yeah, looks like it burned everything the 2013 fire missed. All the way up to SOT.

Haven't heard much about how intense the fire is. Sometimes they mostly burn brush, so fingers crossed some trees remain.

Yep, it’s like sending your kids to school expecting the teachers to raise your them...not right in my book.
I’ll teach my kids about ethics, morals, kindness, sex Ed, consequences of actions ..etc. They are MY responsibility, not the governments.

Look into the eyes of this young man. IMO there is no life behind them. I have seen this in many people good and bad types. How do we change this, so everyone has an awesome story to tell with just their eyes. Glad he will be off the streets hopefully forever. But the problem is not solved, it was just reacted to.

Looks like they are getting a handle on this fire. Acreage has stabilized and containment is increasing.

 

The map on inciweb shows patchy fire away from the perimeter and just a small area of intense fire near Hurkey creek. Looks like SOT is the NE firebreak.

Reacted to. What else can they do? Does anyone here think we are going to fix society? Prevent this kind of illness? I have absolutely no problem with the death penalty for this individual. Why should we continue to pay for his incarceration? A rope can be used over and over with very little overhead.

Everyone has a sense of right and wrong, but I believe they have the ability to justify it through a sick rationalization. I realize I’m venting, but I am not going to get weak in the knees for someone who intentionally causes this much destruction and harm to others.

Yeah... I know, I’m a horrible monster to think those things.

 

There is an interesting map posted on Inciweb now. Looks to show a lot of the area as "scattered fire" and also shows "isolated fires" within the main fire boundary. I'm hoping this means the fire was less destructive mostly burning underbrush rather than all the trees.

 

Have nothing against the death penalty actually for it. Just looking for a fix. How do we solve crime before it happens? There is a way.
I would not say everyone has the sense of right and wrong they may be born with it but upbringing has a huge impact on weather they keep it a lifetime.

Technology will be a part of the solution. Someone with brains and access to money will start the process. Enjoy the ride and dont get caught up in to much serious conversation outside of work. Not sure you or I have the brain power nor the cash to start the process anyway.

 

A friend in Florida says that creating these National forest parks and regions is what created wildfire issues. He says the big trees should be chopped down so that there is nothing to burn. He said the Redwoods up North should be the first to go.

I can't say that I agree with his idea here, though.

 

To be able to solve crimes before they happen we would have to give up all rights to privacy. And it would send due process into a tailspin. In this world owning a copy of the Anarchist Cookbook or Mein Kampf could make you a terrorist before committing an act of treason.

They're getting hammered up there

 

I've got a buddy working that fire as a paramedic assigned to the helicopter landing base area. They've had to move their base of operations once to get away from the fire and they've had to stop flying altogether a few times because of visibility. I know when I drove through last week, there was nothing but thick smoke for MILES along the west side of Redding. I couldn't see any flames but you could tell it was actually burning and not just smoke being blown. The air temps can't help.

 

Some terrible stuff happening up there. I hope nobody else gets hurt/killed from it! We were just up there in June, and it was already blazing hot.
