I went hiking on Saturday and saw huge groups just standing around, they don’t realize they need to be spread out. My buddy and I kept our distance from each other.

Uh oh....I just thought of something. Maybe the store had a run on apostrophes and there weren't any left! I looked for eggs and they didn't have any, but never checked the apostrophe section.

 

I think your numbers are low. 2017/2018 estimated flu deaths were 61,000 in the US alone. 2018/2019 estimate is 34,000 in the US.

The global annual flu deaths I am seeing are in the 400,000 range.

 

I do that every day. It's the first thing I look at just to keep myself informed. It's interesting to see how Italy and Spain are way out in front on the % of people dying as well as the total numbers. Yet Germany and even the US to a lesser extent are doing far, far better in that regard.

 

Be careful to make sure you understand what the map is telling you. They aren't mapping CoViD-19 "illnesses"; rather they are mapping CoViD-19 "cases". Big difference... but no one knows HOW big.

 

Just got back from trying to use Costco's new senior hours. Hundreds of people in multiple lines piled up on each other with scores of cars pulling into every entrance. Full blown nightmare. Drove away in disgust.

 

I'm with ya and don't get me started on other numbers....like since the government is now concerned so much about our health, it's about time they ban ALL smoking. Smoking kills approximately 480,000 people per year , second hand smoke alone kills 41000 per year or 112 per day. Was out yesterday to shop, it is looking like the hills are going to be a solid blanket of fire! Ironic that gas prices are so low with no demand, and the poppies will be probably better than recent poppy blooms in my lifetime! But the poppy people will be asked after there uncontrollably moronic behavior that the national guard will be called in to chase there poppy trampling no distancing asses home! Any bets?

 

Seniors poop a lot. Just sayin'. High fiber diet, etc. Never get between a senior and their toilet paper.

Yeah, I have given up on Costco. I mean, you can save a few bucks and all, but not worth being in crazy lines and being around that many people at once. I popped into Target yesterday and managed to get bottled water and plenty of food to last a couple of weeks. Many shelves were empty, but I found what I needed ... if not necessarily exactly what I wanted. No lines, no crowds.

Too late now, but lifetime smokers are apparently at a much higher risk to get Covid-19 than non-smokers (another tidbit of info from the Joe Rogan podcast with infectious disease expert Michael Osterholm). Apparently, one of the big factors in China was their extremely high rate of cigarette smoking ... especially among the older Chinese.

 

Yup, there’s going to be a geologic layer of Purell bottles, paper towels, masks, and gloves. Followed by a thick layer of hominid fossils and then nothing but rock

 

Olympics officially postponed until 2021. That's really going to hurt the world economy.

 

Pretty sure it's exacerbating the problem in Italy too as well as the high percentage of older people there.

 

Pandemic Poppy People have been sated!!! (At least for now). Laguna Niguel Costco at 11:00AM today. There is actually a short queue... but it is only to allow them to disinfect each cart before someone takes it and enters the store.

 

For whatever reason, the state of New York has almost 50% of the positive US cases and "nearly 5%" of the global positives. The article I read stated that they are testing a higher percentage of their population which is leading to increased positive numbers.
