Cool Video from my trip

My family and I went up to Montana to visit my mom. We stopped off in Teton Pass to get some rides in. This video is from Powerline Jump trail. My son is in the green helmet.

You could see the surprise in your son's body language but he didn't panic.

At first I thought she was gonna charge him, then when she veered off I wanted to get him back to me (like I can defend against a moose) and give her time to get distance and check on her kid.

Cool experience, but pretty scary. Moose are probably the creature I'm most scared of running into on the trail as they can be aggressive and unpredictable. Especially with a young one.

We came face to face with one in that same area, Arrow trail.

Riding through MT, WY, ID and NorCO you expect to see moose eventually. We saw a handful, but one encounter with a lone bull in Medicine Bow NF was a little too creepy. We stopped to snap a photo and he obviously moved forward from the brush into the open. Yep, we'll be on our way now...

 

I am glad your son didn't follow your advice! His instincts were solid. That's scary.

I ran into a pair of adult female meese in Steamboat a few weeks ago as I was riding by myself. First time I've ever had a moose encounter. I stopped and yelled a lot "Hi moose! Rider coming through. Nothing to see here..." I was looking for baby moosages, but didn't see any. That brings the danger level to 11, as in the video above.
