Had a great day of riding down South with UPSed and Jennifer out in the Cheeseboro section of town. It's always weird to me to head down the 405, make a right on the 101 and then ride Mountain Bikes. Maybe cuz I live in Frazier Park and I live in the . . . mountains? None the less, there are some great trails out there . . . go figure! It started out that we were going to ride Backbone, but like at 9:00pm it got cancelled. What? So then I talked them into to doing it anyway, so it was on again. Then, after I got up at Oh-Dark30 and was on the road down the 5, I get a change of plans text. Your killing me Ed! Something about a Gate that has gone up on Backbone and fear that it would cut the ride short. "How about Cheeseboro?" Ed says... I text back, "Anything that gets us 20+, I'm totally good with." So we did end up riding out in the Cheeseboro area off of Las Virgenes and the 101. To get there you head North on Las Virgenes off the 101 until it dead ends. Park it. There's a big sign there letting you know it. Start time was 8:00am. I got there around 7:35 cuz I was planning on the longer drive to Backbone... Ed and Jennifer arrived and it was just us, which I was totally good with... STRAVA: http://app.strava.com/activities/184427433 .gpx/.tcx file is downloadable here: http://imtbtrails.com/magazine/?p=942 We got on our gear and took off. No warm up here, we jumped right on a fire road climb from Las Virgenes to Morrison Ranch Road. Hit some singletrack with lots of little short steeps. Crossed paths with sections from the Shudder extravaganza The Superbowl Sunday / Malibu Barbie Ride??: http://www.imtbtrails.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=11&t=1362 Climbed the wall and went out to the left instead of right to Gas Pipe, and did a really nice flowy singletrack loop in China Flats, then back to Gas Pipe where I totally blew taking a picture of Ed on the descent! Headed back up the Bell Canyon Climb so we could drop down the blazing fast Ireland singletrack. But . . . right inside Ireland there are some unique named STRAVA Sections such as: "How About a Quickie" and "Blow your Wad"....Hmmmmm. This all dropped us back onto the final fly-in to the Las Virgenes Trailhead. Where it was near a miracle that Ed and Jennifer had some nice cold brew-hah to crack open right there at the trailhead....NICE! So we cleaned up (well, they did) I just changed and we loaded up and headed over to my now favorite place to eat in Agoura Hills Tavern 101: http://tavern101.com for some tap beer and amazing burgers... It was a great day of riding. The weather was just slightly warm but not what would traditionally be at this time of year. We got a lot of climbing in, 20 plus on mileage which always makes me happy, and I got to hang out with some good friends. Thanks for letting me hang out with you guys today...it rocked!
