Cheeseboro-Los Virgenes suggestions

Saturday we're headed out to Front Runner Outfitters in Agoura Hills to get a roof rack for the Runner and when I looked it up on the googley maps I saw there were some place to ride close by. So I'm bringing our bikes so we can do some get rads out on a trail or two. What I need to know from somebody in the know is where should we ride?? I'm thinking we'll be able to ride around noon-1ish. If someone wants to be a guide that'd be great, if not I have an app for that. LOL Look forward to some suggestions!

 

I have ridden there a couple of times.

Jennifer and I may be able to join you. If not let me know what you want XC/chunk and I will give you a good route.

 

Cheseboro would be the obvious choice. It has a variety of everything the area has to offer. How many miles are you looking to go?

 

I don't know, 15-20..Looking for fun miles I guess. LOL

 

You never ask me out for fun miles.

 

Don't want to make J jealous..... Plus your idea of "FUN" miles differ from mine.

 

A loop through the Cheese will get you that.

Its fun as long as you dont mind climbing.

 

You got a trail head address? Maybe some trail names? How bout you put your snake down for a minute and pass me some intel??

I wish I could be there to show you around but I've got a busy sched on Saturday.

 

Go to MTB Project and look at the Cheeseboro and Palo Comado Canyon area. From the parking lot I would ride up Cheeseboro Canyon trail to Shepherd's Flat. From there go left on Sheep Corral to Lookout. Looking south from the lookout you'll see a trail to the left. This is Bones and it is not on the map. Drop that to Palo Comado fire road then go right back up to Sheep Corral. Take that all the way across. At the first fire road crossing look to the left and you'll see where the trail picks up on the right. Continue on until you reach Las Virgenes. Take LV all the way down to what they call Cheeseboro Ridge and take a right. This will be your climb back into Cheeseboro. It gets pretty steep halfway in but it's short. Keep going straight and down after you reach the top and about a 1/4 mile down the trail veers to the left and eventually joins the Cheeseboro Canyon trail. Just keep going down and you'll find yourself back where you started.

Send him on the loop that starts at the North end of Las Virgenes and ends with a blast down Gas Pipe. We can't have him miss Gas Pipe!

Gas Pipe is Sheep Corral. Don't fail to offer up a route then criticize mine. I was using the names that MTB Project uses to make it easy. But yes starting at the end of Las Virgenes would be the best as you would end with a nice descent but that route is not as straightforward.

 

thank you too UPS! You think its worth a destination ride? For us in OC its a bit far so would have to make it all day affair...
I love climbing but love single tracks more.. single track downhill even more...

Although this doesn't really help as far as trail names, this is the route I suggested. Park at the North end of Las Virgenes Road and climb up and into Cheseboro. This route gets the big climbing out of the way first.

I would say yes. I could definitely put together a great route that would hit all the fun sections. That is of course if I'm invited.

I really wanted to join @doublewide but had already committed to a road ride.
