    Ride Name: Cheese Redux
    When: Saturday June 20th
    Time: 0800
    Where: Cheesebro, bro
    Ride Description or Details:
    Cheesebro's greatest hits. Edison fire road climb to Cheeseboro Canyon. Up the canyon, then up Sheep Corral to the look out. Optional extra credit climb up Palo Comado to China Flats, then back to the Sheep Corral lookout. Then mob down Sheep Corral to Las Virgenes Canyon - this stretch is the goods. Flowy, chunky, moderate tech, basically the shiz. From LV a short run down to Ridge Connect. Ridge Connect is a moderately painful, shorter than it feels climb that will get us to a newly resurrected fast, flowy, bermy, ST that I think is being called Montizuma (yes, that's the spelling I've seen) that spits us back out at the cars.
    ~~~~~ Optional Details ~~~~~
    Meet Location:
    Las Virgenes trailhead (101 to Las Virgenes, go right, trailhead is at the end of the road.
    Skill Level: Beginner, Intermediate, Advanced
    Ride Pace: Social Cruise, Easy with Moments of Effort
    Type of Ride: Loop
    Rider Limit:
    Anticipated Mileage:
    15 - could easily tack on another 5ish if folks want to climb some fire road to a mellow XC single track loop
    Elevation Gain: 2200 (I think 2,800 if we add the extra loop)
    Ride Duration: 3ish hours depending on the number of hooligans
    Previous Ride Reports: lots
    Possible Bail-Outs: Several - or just turn around
    Facilities: no
    Food/water suggestions:
    Option to Upload:
    I'm kind of spooked posting this, given what befell me right before the ill-fated Cheese social last fall, but from some other posts it sounded like there was some renewed interest. We're on borrowed time with temps for a social ride that could push into mid day, and forecast temps are relatively moderate through the end of the week, so I think it's go time if it's to be. My feeling is that the 15 mile version might be better than the 20, as it looked like the thistles were coming out last time I rode China Flats, and, while a pleasant place to roll around, it's not worth the climb and death by a thousand cuts price of admission if they're out in force.
    Hmmm, a third reason to push it out a week?
    Don’t move it on my account though. I have no business doing a Hooligan ride as my first attempt back on dirt. Doesn’t mean I wouldn’t, just saying I shouldn’t.
    This is definitely not going as hoped. I'm not at all opposed to the following weekend, though it would have to be Sunday. Would that work?
    Since we are on the cusp of the HOT SEASON here in Southern Canada and we cannot predict the temps for the following weekend (June 28), I suggest we keep the original date and if only a few can make it, then we just ride with who we've got.
    We can always resched the big group ride gig for this Fall when the temps behave themselves.
    I'm in for this Saturday and/or I would be in for Sunday the 28th if I wasn't concerned about extreme temps.
    I’m most likely out for either day. Too much driving for work lately in addition to driving to Montana at the end of the month.
    I'm inclined to go with @SnakeCharmer 's suggestion, as next weekend could be perfect, or it could be 100°. Or there could be a fire. Or 5 others won't be available. We can easily do this again another time as well, with some more lead time to better consider everyone's plans. So Saturday 6/20 it is for V1.
    You know, Las Virgenes Open Space is an excellent place for beginners and intermediates to cruise around. Same trailhead, different direction, hard to get lost. Just sayin'.
    The encouragement is appreciated, as always. It's time for me to be out there.
    Funny, I mentioned the same to @herzalot earlier. Easy for me to say, but his recovery sure seemed quick. Much to my surprise, my sentence seemed to kind of fly by as well.
    Dang dude - I only had "second" reason in there for about two minutes before I changed it. You were ready to pounce!!! :p
    And yes, my crash was 6 weeks ago tomorrow. I am pleased with my progress. I go to my first PT session tomorrow. Not sure if I really need it, but it will be good to get a professional opinion. I was carrying and stacking textbooks for 3 1/2 days last week, nonstop, no problems. And not one at a time either. Yay me!
    I’ll ask the boss man, I think one of his buddies is on a short leash due to Fathers Day weekend....which is funny BC you’d think a guy could take a day to do whatever the heck he wanted to celebrate HIS Dayo_O
