We didn't get enough climbing at 9000 feet and bombing 5000 feet to the Kern Valley floor last weekend, so we want to go do it again. Besides... They were out of Isabella Blonde at the Kern River Brewing Company last week... WTH!

So we are going to do Cannell Trail... The sequel.

This is not a beginner ride, lots of chunky sharp rocks, bring spare tubes if you are not tubeless.

Meet Location: MRA shuttle parking lot, just north of Kernville at there new location.
Call 1-800-861-6553 to make your reservation for the shuttle. Price is $42 per rider.
Skill Level: Advanced, Storm Trooper
Ride Pace: Fast Pace
Type of Ride: Point A to B Shuttle
Rider Limit: We need a minimum of 6 Riders to get the shuttle. But maximum is 10.
Anticipated Mileage: 25 miles
Elevation Gain: 2000k
Ride Duration: 4.5 hours

Possible Bail-Outs: Nope! No bail-outs, you're either in or you're out...
Facilities: Bathroom at Mountain and River Adventure headquarters before we leave.
Food/water suggestions: 100oz. Camelbak w/24oz. Water bottle, definitely bring food if you do not use Tailwinds.

So is the water flowing at the spring/pipe just above the cabin?

 

I don't recall, I'm sure someone will "pipe in". See what I did there...

 

Mikie you are a sick mutha... but I'll be there if the wife doesn't kill me before the 20th.

 

Didn't pay attention if that one was flowing, but the other spring on the side of the road just past the big meadow was flowing pretty steady.

I might just be able to make this one as well

Anyone interested in doing this ride while holding hands?

 

My wife just asked me, when I was asking her if our calendar was clear this coming Saturday, if there is anything for the family to do while I ride. Meaning, we go up as a family, rent a hotel for a night or two, and then they can entertain themselves while I plunge.

So any thoughts of anyone that have stayed the night; would my wife and three kids be able to find entertainment while I disappear for the better part of Saturday?

Pencil me in for the moment, as I think my wife might try to turn this into a weekend thing. However, that has an equal opportunity to not happen as it does to happen

 

Plenty of things for them to see and do to stay busy all weekend. They'll probably complain you didn't stay longer.

Dang, I'll be trying to have fun in Mammoth with Maddog friday-sunday!

 

Now that could be difficult to do up there! We'll muddle through somehow!

 

I cleaned and re-greased my rear Chris King to be even "more" like angry bees!! Ordered a new set of Minions as well.
BWAHHHHHHH hah hah!

 

I am really leaning towards making the drive up there... I'll know for sure by tonight after a chat with the Mrs.

Well fiddlesticks! I was all on board until I was reminded I have a 60th birthday party to go to. Not mine of course. Have another great ride!

I'm on the 60/40% of making this....depends on whether I have a carpool partner.

To show how serious I am, I just picked up a 2.4 Mountain King. That's the heaviest tire I've ever owned! I almost needed help lifting it into the car.

 

I just reserved my shuttle spot for this Saturday to Sherman Pass.
I was seat number one (naturally ).

 

Looks like my 60/40 just turned into 100/0....as long as I get my seat on the shuttle this afternoon.

 

I have the green light... I called to reserve a seat, but haven't reached a person yet. I will try again in a bit...

 

I'll confirm with the wife tonight, we were waiting to see if there was going to be the 6 minimum before we committed.

 

Two more seats booked, @Mikie and @mtnbikej !

 

I would do this but I have a date with Skyline trail up in Big Bear.
Plus, that Mikie guy does not like the bikes I ride.

 

Ummmm.....I still not sure which bike i am riding just yet.
