Is that pic of you jumping or a guy name Shidan? (He ran a shuttle business out of Camp Nelson and then moved to Silicon Valley as a Software engineer, I think). If so... It's a small world, I rode with him and @jfsh on Just Outstanding with some extra credit.

I managed to convince the crew to join me on a 3 day weekend in Porterville.
I'll be there @ 10 am
Looking forward for some fun alpine trails.
Whoever is in charge of the weather, keep it under 90 please.

 

Mikie - Yes that is Shidan letting it hang out on a group ride. He’s also associated with local OC group of hard core riders.

It is a small world: when I was going to college to gain some knowledge I was an environmental science/biology major. One of the girls in my class lived at Woodies Pack Station. Her pops owned it and ran it. Woodies was at the top of Freeman creek, back when it was still wilderness out there down below. They were the closest pack station to the upper Kern. Upper Kern is still heaven on earth.

Dumped some updates in the OP. Pin drop for meet location.
Distance from Bear Creek Trailhead (where we finish) to Nelson Trailhead (where we start) is only 2.4 miles, so we will ride the bikes the approximate 15 minutes or so back to the vehicles on some paved neighborhood roads.

 

I take it this means you and Slim Pickens are in!

It's weird being proactive instead of Ready... Fire! ... Aim.
We have a Pre-Meet location for those that are driving up Saturday morning and want to caravan.
Interstate 5 and Frazier Mountain Park Road just North of Gorman. There is a large parking lot at the Flying J where we can meet. From there it is a non stop drive of 2 hours 30 minutes.
Meet time is 10:00am at the Nelson Trailhead so the imtb-caravan leaves the Flying J station at 7:00am sharp.
Puleeze let me know if you intend to meet us there, otherwise you could be left.

 

Okay. Starting to seek a head count on who is in on this ride. Got to have your chops together for this wilderness ride.

My crew (wife and 3 kids) are going for a hike or what ever they want to do....

Weighing the pros and cons... I have a road trip coming up, and I'm not sure I want to add another drive.

 

Just pretend you otherwise get to ride 15 miles per month and see how giddy you'd get to be able to do this.

 

Just Kidding...I'm not in. It's an 8-hour round-trip drive that I could put towards riding.

 

Meaning.... your cancelling the other road trip?

THis is the #1 reason Im not gonna make it....between work miles and Montana, I need to stay local for a bit.

Ok I'm not not in anymore. If I can kick ass at work and take Friday off (after my meeting ends at 10:30), I'll drive up there in an attempt to camp at Belknap or Coy Flat (assuming they're open). Then it's on like Chicken Nuggets in da sauce!

I’m in damnit. I need this ride as I haven’t seen my bike in a couple weeks due to work being insanely crazy. I’ll sure be glad when the unemployed guys have to go back to work and don’t have so much time to spend money they don’t have on motorcycle parts...

Folks. A bit of a modification to the Camp Nelson event.
@Voodoo Tom and I have to make it a Day Trip. Tom's job demands although a great problem to have is ... busy. With my House sale in process I too am swamped, meaning we have to make this a Saturday Day Trip.
The departure plans are exactly the same. But we will be heading back after the Saturday ride instead of staying the night. If that changes plans for others I understand and truly sorry. Stupid life gets in the way from time to time.

 

Another good reason to hire employees who might not qualify for federal assistant...

The Caravan leaving from Flying J so far is one truck. Mine. Currently has 4 stowaways with room for one more:
