I like to pretend that going off the side of Middle Merrill doesn’t happen. It's better that way.

 

Funny thing about that. I managed to get my right foot down, as the bike and most of my body was heading into the abyss. I was able to convert that foot plant into a Pete Rose slide, and a nice knee tweak, but the bike was on its own. The pic above is after. Below is the before. I needed assistance getting both the bike and myself out, but not before the intrepid ride leader documented the scene.

 

Ooof.

Are you OK? And more importantly, is the bike OK?

Glad your priorities are straight! Yes on all counts. This was back in November, a few days before the Laguna 50 that I had to sit out because the knee was not happy for what ended up being a couple weeks, but all good now. Bike was/is fine, but that was the start of a bad run off trail excursions and tumbles. I bought her the coil bling to make up for all my transgressions, and have managed to keep her rubber side down for a good month or so now, so things are copacetic again.

You know my point though. Moving from Trek to Canyon although Canyon is a worthy manufacturer, I have not thought of them in the top 10 for example.
I'm sure there is a strong possibility to get beat up by some here, but how does Canyon really rate? I know of them as a direct sales organization with an office in Carlsbad.
Canyon lovers, don't be hatin'! I'm just saying with Emily's race success you would think a bigger brand would snag her.

 

They’re saving some money on the slow decline of Nairo Quintana, so they can pay Emily to be a spokesmodel. I hope she does well. On another note, Gwin never achieved the same level of success after he stopped riding the Trek Session.

I don't think Batty had a choice. At her age, I think Trek was ready to move on. Having Neff and an up and comer with Evie Richards, Batty became expendable.

 

A measly $340 million in revenue... puts them not far behind Specialized. And gaining...

I think he won two overall World Cups on YT, yes? But it took him a long time to do anything noteworthy on Specialized, and he still hasn't re-surfaced to his former self on Intense. Batty wasn't very gracious to Trek on her way out the door. She came across like a spoiled brat.

Canyon bikes like most of the others are immensely capable....it's all about the rider.

 

The climbing bits look like fun if the fitness is there.

 

BTW she is standing ... Clipped in on rollers....know how hard that is?

Easier on a mtn bike than on a roadie.....I finally got rid of my rollers a few years back.
