100,000 people per year agree with you. California has experienced net out-migration to other states averaging 100,000 per year over the last decade. If it weren't for immigration from other countries, California would actually be declining in population.

Most likely AZ, somewhere just high enough to escape the extreme Summer temps but low enough to be clear of possible Winter extremes.

Ive always hated humidity and I wonder if I could get used to it because other places that interest me are in the humid zone.

    How about you Sara?

Good choice, I do love Flagstaff and Prescott!
It would be nice to know where my kids will land, leaving the them would be hard. If money was/we’re(?) no object I’d have a place on Lopez Is, WA, maybe a little bungalow on Oahu, we love Bass Lk, and I’d keep our home here in So Cal ....in other words spend time all over! Indecisive....mmm maybe ;)

    R.I.P. Chewbacca Actor Peter Mayhew

Peter Mayhew, the 7’2 man who inhabited the iconic costume of the mighty Wookie Chewbacca in all of the “Star Wars” films through up until “Star Wars: The Force Awakens,” passed away Tuesday night at his home in Texas. He was 74 years old.

His official Twitter has just revealed the news saying: “The family of Peter Mayhew, with deep love and sadness, regrets to share the news that Peter has passed away. He left us the evening of April 30th with his family by his side in his North Texas home.”

The Kurtz Joiner Archive also released a statement remembering the man saying: “Meeting fans and especially the children that were into Star Wars and seeing the magic in their eyes when they got to meet Peter was something that drove him to attend public events and Comic Cons, which he continued to do up until last week.”

They add if you feel like saying goodbye to Peter then don’t buy flowers or gifts but instead make a difference and donate to the Peter Mayhew Foundation devoted to the alleviation of disease, pain, suffering and the financial toll brought on by lives traumatic events.

Hubris... and another near-death at a national park.

Visitor at Hawaii National Park falls into active volcano

I can't remember if I brought this up before, but if you love Yellowstone National Park, you should pick up this book. It is quite a good read. If you had to guess the #1 cause of accidental death in Yellowstone, I'll bet no one would get it...

Drowning. A combination of fast-flowing streams and very cold waters. Yellowstone Lake is the largest lake above 7,000 feet in North America and it remains frozen until May or June most years. It has an average temp of 41 degrees. Swimming is highly discouraged - which is why you don't see any beaches. You see very few kayaks or canoes on the lake, for a good reason - storms are frequent occurrences, and if you capsize you better hope you are close to shore and a good swimmer.

More people have boiled to death than have been killed by bears.

The American bison is the most dangerous animal in the park - edging out grizzly bears - with 2.5 times as many attacks and just as many fatalities. Many bison attacks occur when people get close to take selfies.

Do not eat water hemlock. It has killed three people. Ya gotta wonder...

After reading this book, it was sobering to go to some of these locations. There are warning signs everywhere, but people still leave the trails, climb over railings, leave the boardwalks... and die.

Quote of the week (from the above link): "In a very short order, there was a significant amount of dissolving"

At what cost though? I hear their NX groupset works okay but is heavy and not as crisp shifting as GX and above. Jennifer loves her GX Eagle and I'm still happy with my GX 10-42 11spd with XT derailleur. I guess maybe for some it will be okay.

They need to make 12 speed gearing in more combinations. I would totally get 12 spd with a 11-42 cassette.

The 10-50 Eagle cassette has a 42 tooth. That's the one that get's the most use from me on extended climbs. The 50 tooth is there for rescues and it's nice to have it there when I need it.

I doubt most posters on this forum would be the target customer....

But there are still a lot of entry level bikes that come with 1x10,

Trickle down may not work for economics, but it's good for the bike industry..

Agreed. I am thinking of this application for newbies.

I feel that 10 and 11 speed drivetrains installed on new bikes is going to end sooner than later with this new, economy priced 12 speed drivetrain available.

LOL!!! The increase in the chance of dropping a chain with a multi-ringed crank set is mind boggling. I had forgotten all about that until you brought it up here.

Interesting thought. Never occurred to me since in 2 years of riding one I never dropped a chain. Not. Even. Once. Weird.o_O
