What are these "brakes" you speak of ?
Do I have them on my bike ?
If so, where are they ? I would like to try them.

I use my front only quite often. This is an old technique from moto's. On moto's while traveling thru Hoops I drag front and rear while still hard on the gas to make the bike stable. Also drag the front only thru anything slippery or off camber to give a sticky anti-lock feel. With the Mtn-bike I will drag it on any turn that's slippery-loose-off camber, and normally pedaling too. It's a keep it planted move, not necessarily to slow down. Maybe 6% pull.

Or if you're like me and you only need your brakes when you come to a stop. :whistling:
