I was out there this morning and there are now 2 electronic message boards indicating that Blackstar/Trail will be closed from 9/17 to 10/31 for Trail Rehabilitation Project.

Not sure what they are going to do in those 6 weeks......I'm just wondering where the Handicapped Parking spaces are going to go at the Falls Trailhead.

I was thinking the same thing. Maybe the fire will be declared "Out" by then and most of the closure will be lifted.

They are going to pulverize the asplalt road past the large County gate and convert it to a natural surface trail, and improve drainage along the bank edges. The area will be closed during the week, but open for use on the weekends. Hope this helps.

Thanks Adam. 6 weeks to rip out some asphalt and convert to dirt road?

Any word on narrowing the interstate past No-Mans-Land Ranch?

The part with the asphalt will be mechanically pulverized and mixed with native soil. I believe some portions past the road will be engineered DG. All the edges will be contained by wood edging.

Should be a nice finished product. The asphalt is really old.

Well, that's not optimum. Can't believe that's gonna take six weeks.
And, with everything else likely closed at the same time. SMH
I was planning on the Equinox ride on Friday the 21st.
We'll see how it plays out.

There was signage at Blackstar when I was there Sat. morning regarding area repair. It goes without saying but I hope nature will rebuild our riding areas soon. It would be great to see green hillsides again. Meanwhile I'll be going through Motorway withdrawals. The Blackstar to Motorway loop was/is one of my favorites. :(

Yeah... That's not the same as riding from home. I was really spoiled with what was reachable from the front door.

Can't get to Skyline in time for an evening ride.
I've never done Coal and I try to bring some relative newbies out to my ride. Blackstar is just about right for that
I'll probably just try to do it anyways.
Hopefully open on weekends means they are done by Friday Eve.
