Unfortunately more than a year old so the only option is a warranty claim.

Thanks for the reminder, I purchase the majority of my stuff through Backcountry and have a gear adviser that I work directly. I am going to reach out to him and see if he can help. From what I hear RF will work with any retailer, it doesn't necessarily have to be the one you purchased the product from.

This is correct.....you just have to be able to provide proof of purchase.

RaceFace warrantied their 1st generation Vault hub for me but it took 3 months for them to get around to conducting actual customer service.

Edit: wheels purchased from jensonUSA. Retailer that coordinated with RaceFace is InCycle in San Dimas.

I'm pretty sure this happened because he used those cranks to pedal. Bad form. Next time, try an e-bike!

I found some old pics on my hard drive. I am not sure where I got them, but they deserve to be posted here so they can be enjoyed by all.

My rear shock wouldn’t hold air so locked it out.

The front end on my bike felt a bit notchy..what??? I have to keep the bearings greased? Nah, I’ll just replace them when they go bad. By that I mean when I grind them down to dust.

These are great! Some of them give me a headache just looking at them. One wonders... did people bring these bikes in to have them "fixed"? Or did they at least have the good form to say "I screwed my bike up by trying to do something before I had (1) skills (2) parts or (3) money"?

Indeed. Back in '90 or so my Fox shock failed and there was no click click and your parts are here. I needed the bike for the weekend so I pumped the air chamber full of RTV. Turned it into a softail. Believe it or not it worked rather well.

Figured I’d update this post. Almost 6 weeks since I submitted my claim to Jenson and not one word from them. No calls, no e-mails, nothing. When I called to follow up I was pretty much blown off saying that they would get to me when they get to me. And he wouldn’t give me any contact info for anyone in the warranty department to speak with. I’ve purchased quite a bit of stuff from them over the years including a full bike, but they are now off of my list. I like their selection and the one day shipping is great, but the lack of any type of a response is unacceptable.

So, I went ahead and shot RF an e-mail even though I know they want the user to go through the retailer. I explained that I tried that route but that I could not get a response. Received an e-mail back from them within 24 hours with a link to submit the claim myself. Claim submitted this morning and have already received a RA # and a UPS shipping label to send the crank back to them for inspection. So, at least there’s some movement now. Guess I’ll keep my fingers crossed to see what RF says when they take a look at it.

Good to hear that you have forward movement.

As I have said before, Jenson is great for prices, but I find their service to be severely lacking. My one warranty claim with them was like pulling teeth for them to even submit the claim.

Ever since Jenson USA overhauled their IT, about six months ago, their service has gone to Sh!t; and some of their products as well (e.g., Brake calipers with pads contaminated with grease, wheelsets with known warranty issues discounted to sell faster sans customer support, and wrenching service at the Riverside warehouse that is lacking both skill and schedule).

I’m glad RF responded to you. I guarantee RF has heard of very similar experiences with Jenson USA from consumers, so your story is likely corroborated.

With that said, props to my LBS InCycle for spearheading my warranty issues on products purchased from Jenson USA. I’ll still buy from Jenson USA for price, quick delivery, and easy (for me) returns to the warehouse, but they will be engaged with caution and persistent visits to the warehouse for compensation.

We would poach a can of beans from Mom's cupboard, can open both ends. Tin snip & drill holes to mount a front fender like todays Mucky-Nuts fenders. I think we were onto something but didn't know it.

That sounds eerily similar to my experience here in the UK with Chain Reaction. A shock I purchased from them leaked straight out of the box, got in touch and asked them what I was supposed to do. Submitted a warranty claim, returned the item and waited..... and waited. Eventually about 5 weeks later after complete silence from their end I get an email saying the issue has been resolved.
Their resolution. To refund me my money (because all out of stock) and wash their hands of it all. Great so now I have a bike I can't use and you've effectively told me tough :poop:

All because CR couldn't put a $10 seal kit on a shock . Told them if I'd realised this was what their response was going to be then I wouldn't have even bothered and got the shock repaired myself at my own cost. They couldn't have been less interested.

They lost my business forever from that point on.

So, last and final update. Received a call today from Raceface. They are going to warranty the crankset. He asked if I wanted the Next SL or R's as the R's are stronger, but a little heavier. I chose the R's. He said they'll get them in a box and out to me tomorrow. I still haven't heard anything from Jenson on the warranty claim. A+ for RF and their service and response time, F- for Jenson and their lack of service and extended response time.

Bikepacking weight weenies take notes. This guy rides this rig daily. And those suitcases are filled with power tools for work. He is easily pedaling 100 extra lbs around.

    That's insane...

Hopefully, RF comes through like they did for me. Competitive Cyclist submited the claim, and I had a new set of cranks delivered from RF in short order... I had to send pics, but it all went pretty quickly.

Edit: I should have read through to the end of the thread... Glad it's sorted out.

Folks - we have a winner. You can close this thread now. :bang:

OK wait - it's a display in a window. Meaning, it's meant to draw attention. I withdraw my request to close the thread and admit that they "got me."

PS: They forgot the front - er - rear brake.
