Not-so-fun-fact: Some of those Magura brakes that are right around 20 years old had a standard that had the caliper mounting tabs offset 5 mm outward from the inside of the dropout face. If you're (un)fortunate enough to be working brakes like that, you'll need to use some spacers to retrofit modern disc brake calipers.

    Plastic practice nunchuks.

    He's perpetually happy.
Bruce is a real-life Forrest Gump who actually served in the Army. He visits me every Saturday at the bike shop and is a total riot.
His bike is covered in spent shell casings up to 57mm. Has an inert grenade in a bottle cage. The frame is covered in camo-tape. The bike weighs 49 lbs, "49 pounds only! 50 would be stupid"
I give him water and French fries and he calls me his friend.
Life is like a box of chocolates...

The 'fail' is so strong with this bike. Not from the shop, but it was advertised for sale on a FB page.

I see at least three major issues that could be huge safety problems. Bike Fail 001.jpg

Until you get gored, or have a MAJOR pedal strike because your BB is so low due to running what appears to be 650c wheels.

And it is 'for sale'. If some poor soul buys that POS, they could get seriously hurt.

Personally, I like running my brake pads on my tires instead of the rims. Much better grip that way.

True enough, but at that point I have to think maybe a hybrid would have been the prudent choice. As far out on the slippery slope as this is though, maybe he's committed to going all the way with this fine steed!

What possible harm could come from that?

Noticed this when I was doing some maintenance. Looks like some cracks are forming at the insert. I yanked them off as I didn't want to deal with a full failure trail side. I submitted a warranty claim though Jenson over two weeks ago since I bought them there but have not heard back from them on next steps. I called to follow up and the guy just said that the warranty guys were busy and would get to me when they get to me. Could be up to a month. Race face won't work with the customer directly and just says to go through a retailer. Any one on here have a connection to Raceface? I really can't 100% say that they were not caused by a pedal/crank strike, but given the history with failures at the thread insert, I figured it couldn't hurt to reach out and see what RF will do. If I can ever get the claim in to them. :bang:

What generation are they? Usually says on there somewhere. I think prior to Gen 4 they were breaking a lot.

    That sucks...:.those don’t look like crank/pedal strikes.

So you have a company that is difficult to deal with when it comes to warranty(RF) using a company that doesn’t like to handle warranties(Jenson).

Less than a year old? Tell Jenson you want to return them. You are not 100% satisfied with them. Maybe that get them moving a little quicker.

    Sh!t...

It took some effort to get my Aeffects warrantied. It was through Back Country, but Race Face still wanted the cranks back, along with detailed images, etc... Because "it was so rare, and they wanted their engineers to examine them."

Bullshit. Same thing Crankbrothers used to say when I took pedals in every 6 months... "We've never seen this happen!"

Not sure, I'll check the spindle and see if it says anything.
