I'm in the market for a new rack so doing research on various options and their racks being USA-made is a huge plus for me.
    - All aluminum construction (no plastic to degrade in the sun)
    - And it folds up so can it fit in a car trunk if that's of interest
    - Expandable - you can purchase an add-on rack ($220) to add an additional bike (if you buy the single rack to start with)

One downside (if you're in a hurry) - from 1UP USA site:
SHIPPING DELAY ALERT! Due to the cycling market explosion, order processing is expected to reach 4-5 weeks at the time of order. Orders with expedited shipping will ship within 2-5 business days.

I don't know what qualifies as expedited shipping (see attached) but might be worth it to find out if you can get it shipped in a week vs 4-5 weeks

I have always been a fan of Yakima products. I have never been let down by their products, the parts are readily available anywhere. As a matter of a fact I am ordering a new bed rack system for my truck and its all Yakima.

Agreed. I'm on my second Sherpa. I think they're made in the US as well and their customer service is very good.

A friend of mine ordered a 1-Up in December and was prepared to wait several weeks for it. He got it in very early January. I used to think they looked like erector sets but, those have grown on me.

The 1-up would have been my first choice, but the two bike version was a bit too pricey for me when I was in the market
I have a kuat transfer, and love it. I have a 29er with 2.6 tires and a 1215 mm wheel base.. and it barely fits though. I believe they now have the v2 updated to fit 1270mm wheel base.
Fits 1 1/4, but comes with adapter for 2".
    Nice finish.
    feels sturdy

    I agree with most of the others. 1UP, 1UP, 1UP, 1UP, 1UP, 1UP, 1UP, 1UP........if a 1UP is out of your price range, I'd get a 2nd job or use that $1400 stimulus check if you;'re getting one and then.....get a 1UP. :D

Ha! They must be busy (which is great for them), I called them 5 times - busy signal. No voicemail so sent them an email.
Will report back if they answer with what qualifies as "expedited shipping" or any other response on shipping backlog.

1Up all the way for me. Bought a single then added later.
Never a bike component conflict when loading bikes.
No massaging bike parts so they don’t rub. Easy load, easy unload. Very light but stable rack.

I second this. I don't know about 1up; I've heard good things about them but I own a Yakima rack. I got rear-ended, the rack took the brunt of it. I had the option to order a new spline, since that was the part that was damaged, and not order the entire rack.

$149 got my rack back up to snuff. The other party's insurance paid for it. I didn't have to wait umpteen weeks for an entire new rack, either, as the parts are readily available.

    Go Yakima!

Received an email reply from 1Up USA about what qualifies as expedited shipping: Fedex Express Saver (which is the next level above their std. ground shipping)
That works out to be approx (based on shipping to SoCal):
$70 for the least expensive single rack
$100 for the least expensive double

Thanks for all the recommendations! I went with the 1 Up double carrier with expedited shipping. $ 904.00  But hey... it for riding mtn. bikes right? So it doesn't hurt that bad. :):whistling: Hmm.

I know... should be gold plated. We're going to Sedona this year anyway even though there is no festival and the Mrs. complains about being jostled to much in our 2006 Chevy Silverado truck. So.. the MBZ is it. More to it than that. Courtney will drive our Silverado out there anyway to be used as shuttle. Best part? Courtney got her own hotel room. Yay!

Hey just make sure you really tighten this black tensioner and verify it's tight once the bikes are loaded.
Keeping that tight prevents travel bumps from wearing it to sloppy. :)

I know you just bought the OneUp (which I have and swear by), but this just came across my YouTube feed. It looks and works a lot like the OneUp (so there may be some pending litigation in the future LOL). Some pretty cool ideas on it though.

A ramp for the eBikes! Ha hah! Broke my heart they use Santa Cruz pBike.

Is this company the same guy that left pissed off from 1Up and started his own company. This certainly looks like a copyright infringement lawsuit waiting to happen.
    (I liked the rack however...)

My buddy ordered a 1up around New Years and got it at the end of January. Their back order queue seems to be a bit quicker than Jenson’s for the Shimano shoes my wife ordered in November that still haven’t arrived.

Snooping around the internet, it looks like it's gonna be the same guy, Cal, that started 1Up. If you watch the video closely, he is using a 1Up rack for comparison against the QuikR rack.

The guy that designed this also designed the 1Up originally. He and his partner split up and after his “do not compete” clause was up, he came up with this. He came on MTBR promising the world and supposedly had over 1000 people in line for them. Then they were 6 months late, then a year, then 18 months....you get the picture.

The trailer hitch install went well with only one bloody knuckle. The hardest part was drilling through thin hardened metal in the bumper ( and convincing DLW I wasn't hurting her car..). Just as I was dropping the car off the ramps after the receiver install Fed Ex dropped off the bike rack. Perfect timing! How about that? Gotta' go now.. there's still time to ride my bike today.
