@mike can’t join me for a ride while I’m in Truckee, so we did the next best thing - met for a few beers! Always great company and conversation! We met at Alibi in Truckee and I also got to nerd out on beer with the Alibi head brewer who happened to be sitting and drinking next to us (sorry, Mike! Haha). Good seeing you, dude!

 

Very cool!!! My buddy Derek was up at Tahoe for a quickie getaway with his wife. He rode once and loved it.

 

Coincidentally, Alibi Brewing was the place I met @mike last April - still the only time I have shared the same physical space with the legend.

We were at Dog Haus and the manager came out and asked if I'd like to try a scoop of vanilla ice cream with it and I said sure. Why not? It was pretty damn good.

 

Sierra NV Pale has been at least temporarily supplanted as my daily driver. Lagunitas cranks the flavor to 11.

 

Machete IPL at Laguna Beach Beer Co. Named after one of our local trails and coincidentally my buddy Richard who cut it was at the brewery tonight!


They also have some decent hazies. More of a West Coast IPA guy, but not bad!

 

That's funny... An off menu trail is on the menu at the brewery!

I don't post here often, but I've found myself indulging a little more lately. We'll see how that goes... Double Church IPA FTW... Although I'm not sure if Walt is giving me the thumbs up, or saying, "Whoa, big fella. Take it easy, there."

 

Will drinking a Machete beforehand make me faster on Machete? Somehow I think not. After I ride it on Friday, I'll make it a point to stop by the brewery for one.

Awesome. I love a good Belgian Ale.

When I first started brewing beer they were my favorite. I actually took second place in the first competition I entered with a Belgian strong golden ale.

Then I started drinking bitter beers (IPAs) and the Belgians started tasting too sweet to me, I still have them occasionally though. I’m on a break from beer (been having bad arthritis flare ups) so maybe I’ll try some of my old favorites when I’m off my break.

 

"Like" for the beer comments. "Unlike" for the arthritis. Hope you get relief soon!

FYI @mike I don't wear my road bike helmet on my gravel bike.

 

Now that I’m an Arizona resident I have been checking the local beer. 4 peaks kilt lifter and golden ale are my go to. San tan brewing has some nice choices too.

Got it...because you could get a serious head injury from wearing the wrong helmet for the surface. Not to mention the thrashing from lycra-clad equipment snobs.

 

Inspired by @SnakeCharmer and his 4 step process and the fact that it's too dang windy to ride I'm enjoying me some Blue Moon and skipping a couple of his unnecessary steps. My brother in law (RIP Johnsonville) used to love this stuff but it's been a while for me. I might even like this stuff better than Shocktop.
