    Choo choo...here comes the derail...

that is the classic finish, but I wouldn’t know how it feels since we rapped from Lunch Ledge.

my first and last multi-pitch lead. I lost confidence in my partner’s attention span .

Folks decided that the chimney at the bottom was 5.6. I think someone’s pride was hurt at some point. If anything the next pitch was what got me with routefinding and rope drag.

We now return you to your regularly scheduled Arkansas travelogue.

Yes. My last boat was a Prijon T Slalom. About 12'. I think I purchased it in 1989 and paddled a couple more years before I gave up in about 1996. I was never more than a moderate Class IV paddler - The Numbers on the Arkansas (north of Buena Vista, CO) was at the top of my comfort level. Royal Gorge at moderate flows. Westwater on the CO. I did a few slalom races in Salida and Durango.

I don't see myself rekindling that part of my life, although I am fairly certain I can still roll right handed. Left was always harder. Hips first people! Your head will follow.

@Mikie if you get a chance get tickets to watch The Great Passion Play, that is if they are still doing plays. I got to see it long ago when I was like 12. It is really cool and all about the man. My grandparents lived in NE Oklahoma, they took us one summer when we were visiting. No mountain bikes back then. Besides the play/theatre area all I remember is there being a petting zoo, the chapel, and a gift shop.

Haha herze...I tried to Eskimo roll after not doing it for over 10 years I just got dizzy and disoriented I thought it was like riding a bike but Eskimo rolls can be forgotten.... I used to love kayaking and white water rafting but just too much time commitments when you live in LA... Gave it up for a mountain biking over
20 years ago ... Might have to get back into it...

Okay, okay, hang on… I knew this one…
If an electric train was traveling North East at 57 mph, and there was a Southwest headwind, which way would the wind blow?

I would say, one before you go and one when you get back, cuz you have rivers everywhere to jump in, in between. Problem is, they do not accept your Calendar Boy Speedo’s. Yes, hard to imagine! But if’n you are in them they will break out a banjo and be checkin’out yo purdy mowth. Hey boy!

only one since the south has soft water so the soap never comes off. But eventually you get out and dry off, but you never really dry off. After all that you do not want to repeat. And if you exert a lot of work your shirt and shorts get soaked through totally so it is like carrying a portable shower with you all day.

Okay, so a few days plinking’ around the house, then back into the mix.

Monday went out meandering along some creeks and rivers. I have always had an obsession to find arrowheads and Arkansas is a place to find them. Even if you don’t find anything it doesn’t really matter. You’re just out and about…

It’s Tuesday and CJ wanted to hit the water again, so we drove back over to Ponca to hit up the Buffalo River. I was in paying for them to shuttle the truck to the landing and they surprised me that they were not doing the stretch we did last Friday.

The only PR I got was Personal Relaxation…
    913D97BD-5260-4EFD-8B8A-706212707E54.jpeg

We had to drive down stream further to launch from Pruitt Landing and do 7+ River miles to Hardy Landing.
The River was slower and deeper in places making for an exceptional laid back float. Although it was a mile shorter than Fridays float, we ended up with about the same amount time on the Buffalo. I think I liked this section even better than the section we did on Friday.

Leaving to go float the Buffalo, this is our view to the left on our 1.8 mile driveway out to the main road.

Written creek, but pronounced crick. If it was afar off, it would be yondah.
