I don’t see much difference between the AR and the Ikon. Am I missing something?

There isn't much.....Mix and match as you see fit....they are pretty much the same tire.

Yup. I ordered the wrong tire so I figured instead of going through the hassle of returning it I would just run it. If I end up not liking it it goes on Jennifer's bike.

Well as Maxxis tires go their 2.35 Ardent Race and 2.35 Ikon are not the same size. The AR is noticeably narrower in width. So do I order another 2.35 Ikon and put the AR on the front of Jennifer's bike or?

I know but so will the Ikon. Maybe I will just install them with tubes and see how much they grow.

I liked the volume, but other than that I really didn't care for it on the front. I know this will be heresy on this board, but I thought it had a lot less grip than the Racing Ralph up there... If it weren't for the price, and the fact that I'm enjoying the much meatier Forekaster, I'd buy another Ralph.

The volume is what I like about it. I just don't think the AR is going to have the same volume. Maybe I could match it up with a 2.6 Rekon.

Cool! Is that available as a tire sealant? A plumper tire would definitely enhance my ride.

Have had trouble with this Ardent Race 29 x 2.35 (120 tpi, 3C, EXO) since I mounted it up on the rear after the first 2 were destroyed within a couple of months. It slowly loses air constantly and periodically (like every 3 weeks or so) it will go totally flat after riding it for 20 minutes or so. There are no holes in it, rim tape and rims, valve, etc are fine. Immersed it today in some water and found dozens of tiny leaks all around both side walls. Stans doesn't seem to seal them, or maybe new ones form faster than the Stans can work. I don't know. Have contacted Maxxis to see what if anything they have to say about this. I know tires will leak air slowly over time and have heard of this problem. This is ridiculous having to use a little mini-pump on it and not knowing if it will hold air until I can get home. Sometimes it will leak right back out, and others it will hold.

Might be your Stans. If it isn’t dealing a bunch of minuscule holes, then it’s not the tire.

It's only a couple of months on a new treatment but it is towards the end of the jug. I put some more in today hoping a fresh top off will help. If not I am going to clean it out and start with some Orange Seal and see if that makes a difference.

I find Stans does start to go bad in the bottle, especially if you store it in the garage where it gets really really warm.

Is 130+ degrees too hot? :geek: I bet you are right. Probably bad old Stan has gone limp on me.

Rode Fri. after the sealant top off and noticed some seepage out of the spoke holes. New symptom haven't seen before. So I took the tire off Sat to investigate the tape and valve. Plenty of Stans in there so I know it had all leaked out or evaporated. No issue with the tape, couldn't see any evidence that the valve seat had leaked, but that stuff got into the inner rim somehow. So I stripped it down, cleaned it all up and retaped it. Noticed that the WTB tape I had used previously and this time (1st time for this brand) seemed a lot thinner than the Stans tape I normally use. I split it down the center at one point while I was rubbing it into the channel with my thumb. That sucked, so I started over. Fresh dose of Orange Seal this time. No evidence of leakage after today's ride for whatever that means. Coincidentally, maybe, the front rim also pissed itself on Fri. for the 1st time and it was more like water than Stans. So maybe a combo of funky sealant and another tape/valve combo issue. Ordered up more supplies, fresh Stans sealant and tape, new valves and will tackle the front wheel in a couple of days.

You are thorough. I would let it seep hoping that the sealant would clog wherever it was getting out. If the tires would not hold air reliably, I suppose then I would investigate.
