It’s been cool, cloudy, and even drizzly on the coast, so mrs levity and I headed down to Anza Borrego Desert State Park in search of sunny skies and drier/warmer air.

Beautiful fall days there Nov. 1-4, mild temps 54-82F and no wind. The surprise was that the roads were in such good condition. I guess it’s been too hot since the last rains for the motor folks to get out and tear things up. We came prepared for sand (plus bikes with 27.5x3 tires), but many washes still had hard pack, and much of the riding would have been fine on skinnies. Some pics:

washes in the Badlands had few if any tire tracks, and there was lots of dry caked mud showing evidence of successive rain/flood events

Seems I recall they are always on Specialized 6-Fatty (or something similar) with 3" tires or wider. Hence the "no pizza cutter" avatar.

But they went from Specialized hardtails to FS... I was tempted when they went for sale last year!

Man! I want to ride a ride like that. Those channeled canyons look very cool!
    I like it!
