I have made yet another stop along the way to the one true "perfect" bike (for me). Ordered a 2017 Trek Farley 9.6 last Sunday, came in yesterday. After taking some time riding my other bike, I figured I like bikes that aren't begging to be ridden harder and harder and that I just like a confidence inspiring ride. When I say confidence inspiring I mean, loads of grip and stability at low and high(er) speeds. Having spent lots of time on the Stache solidified my love for large tires. This is me taking it all the way lol.

I would equate all of this to racing a Miata. With a little skill you can learn your strengths and weaknesses on the track as well as taking it to your limits while still feeling safe (aside from being in a soda can). I see the Stache and Farley like this except the bikes weigh more than a Miata :D.

Here's hoping it what I'm looking for.

    Wow! Rigid huh? Beautiful bike!
That's a clever blend of rigid and fat. I'm very interested to see how you like it...

I'm a rigid convert after my Stache 5, which oddly enough I plan on throwing a suspension fork on.

I am soooo confused. You didn't like the way way the Bronson felt on technical DH's cause you couldn't get the shock set up so.....so you went to the other extreme with no suspension?

I already had a full rigid and knew, more or less, what I was getting into with this. For all intents and purposes I was already at the extreme... the slow Clydesdale extreme lol.

Pay no attention to the background noise Robert, it's a beauty of a bike! clean lines and cable routings. I like it!

Oh it's all fun and games to me. It's boring without a little horse play:D. Thank you though, I quite like it and may need to get a quick night ride in cause I just can't wait for the scheduled ride.

Congrats. I spend a bunch of time last year, on a Stache. I loved it and want one. I think if more riders were open to the idea, a lot more people would ride plus size tired bikes.

Irregardless of herzalot's grammer comment, I am convinced that bikes are holy personnel preference. You know what they say: "A rolling stone is worth two in the bush!"

Apparently a rigid single speed with a dropper post. Holy personnel preference.

i am going to close this thread off with riding impressions on the bike. As you would expect it takes some power to get up to speed. I'm already slow but spent a lot of time feeling like I was crawling. The bike is a bit more grippy than my Stache 5 and a bit more supple even with 60tpi tires with tubes. Air pressure is even more critical requiring more precise measuring equipment as anything but spot on leads to bobbing under heavy pedaling. In many ways it felt just like the Stache. I am happy with the purchase and even happier with the build kit (sram level tl brakes and gx everything else). The only things that may swap out are bars, grip and saddle for those that I know are comfortable to me.

Now it's time to throw some suspension on the Stache and convert the Farley to tubeless.
