Another one from the "other" site

Hi everyone,

I've been lurking around here for a while after giving up on STR, and I'm finally getting around to posting. It's great to see this site grow and be so well supported. It's awesome to have a local online mountain biking community. I was "Old School" on STR and met a few of you over the last few years. I live in north OC and tend to ride Aliso, Laguna Wilderness, and Santiago Oaks the most.

Looking forward to seeing everyone out on the trails or at some of the local XC races!

A lot of us are transplants from the other site.

I'm at the Oaks.....a lot.....chances are we have crossed paths.

 

Howdy Matt, from another South OC guy. We rode once a few years ago at Laguna Coast, not sure how I can remember this... but it was a group ride posted by Eatsrice (Kevin) before he moved back east, you, Wizard (Steve-haven't seen him in awhile), Oldocrider (dave on a big doublecrowned bike), and another guy with his pre-teenage son that beat me up all the hills. Seems you had a newish bike at the time and were kickin' butt on the ups and downs.
Anyways, welcome, we'll have to ride again, give me a shout!

Welcome to imtbtrails Matt! I guess it helps to have a Forum Owner obsessed with Mountain Biking when you own a Mountain Biking Forum, huh?
In fact it's hard for me to not capitalize Mountain Biking in every sentence, ha hah!

I'm no where near you in any sense of the word being as that I live in Frazier Park off Interstate 5, but that does no rule me out. I have been known to do extensive travelling for a weekend jaunt on the trails.
There is good advice in this thread, input often, the more you share the more you get out of it. We are a friendly bunch, so have fun!

Hey Mike! I think you're right. Does a Blackstar, Skinsuit, Skyline ride back at the end of 2013 sound familiar? It was a Path shop ride with some riders from STR, and crazy wind.

 

Thanks! Crazy, I remember that ride. Good to hear from you! I'm still riding that bike, keeping it feeling new with a steady stream of upgrades. Maybe a little case of upgraditis, but I think I have it under control ... for now.

 

Like any addiction, the only cure is cold turkey. Or riding more...since we don't want to be cured.

 

I might have been on that ride too. Only my husband (at the time) and I waited for Jaime and told you guys to go on ahead. It was maybe Jaime's first ride; poor guy didn't even make 2 miles.

I have yet to ride Skinsuit. I WILL THIS WINTER!!

 

There is no cure for addition only a daily reprieve contingent on you spiritual condition. MTBing is good for your spiritual condition.

It's easy for me to remember since I've only ridden it once! I didn't get any shots of the group until the top of Blackstar so I missed Rox and Jaime.
