    Sooooooo.....

    Up Cholla only for bikes
    Down Lynx only for bikes

Not sure how many riders actually go the other direction on either of those trails.

Of course that doesn’t pertain to the hikers.

I’m starting to come around to the idea that this is a back door way to identify our motorized nemeses. Assuming there will be an actual Ranger presence. Which is a big assumption.

I am surprised to see T & A as bikes only. I have seen hikers on that trail pretty much every time I have ridden it. Not sure how that will sit with them.

That will not sit well with hikers. It's a popular trail.

I've ridden up Rock-It a few times. The rock garden is a little tough - not any one part, but the totality. The rest is a pretty nice climb, as climbs go.

Kinda surprised that this comment from the PowerPoint:

User Conflict (poor etiquette, aggression, near misses, speed, crowding)

Wasn't followed by: Therefore bikes of any kind are no longer allowed.

I love these moves for Aliso & Laguna. Nobody needs to be hiking or biking up Rockit or TnA. I just wish they had banned hikers from coming up Car Wreck. They scare me more than the trail. "Don't move! You're good!"

Now they just need to add in a couple new bike-only trails :)

I guess they cant make 5 oaks dh only unless they add a separate legal way up

Overall, i think theses are good moves. Shoulda started with rockit to test the bikes dh only designation.
    or Mentally.
Guess no more HAB up Old Emerald. Unless hiking your bike is cool on a hikers only trail direction, but i doubt the park sees it that way. I might call them and ask!

I've been asking for this for years... particularly on weekends.

No one should be climbing Rockit on weekends. Just too risky. And the only time I have seen anyone descending Cholla, it was a group of three and they pretty much skidded the whole way down, trenching the trail on the way.

A certain pro is not going to like the coming changes, especially if they catch on and expand. He's been making videos lately climbing all the techy trails down there on his e-machine. Of course, he'll probably continue to just ignore the new rules, same as he's ignored the old ones.

I like the changes, it is really much safer, and who would want to climb for example Lynx. That will be an even better downhill on the bike than it already is now, no fear of hikers climbing up.

Still one day somebody is going to get hurt on Lizard (not part of changes) while being on an uphill Meetup Saturday morning hike...Applies to Car Wreck too.

a few bike-only trails are only fair given there are plenty hike only trails in the parks...

I kind of feel like the Parks are giving the bike community a chance to redeem itself. But now that the “bike community” is dominated by a)jackass ebike-peddling shop owners and their suppliers, b) unsuspecting newbies who take their cues on trail behavior from YouTube, I’m still pretty sure that this won’t end well.

It was a big eye-opener here that when they cut in new trails, they always do them in loops - to allow one-way direction of travel. There are hikers and trail runners on some of the trails, but to be honest a lot of the trails are just too long. Not too many hikers want to bite off a 9 mile singletrack loop when they have a hiker-only trail that is 3 miles that follows the lake shore.

It is so nice to not have to worry about head-on traffic when you snaking along on singletrack in the woods with short sight lines. Plus, since everyone is going the same direction, it makes the trails feel really empty.

Maybe it'll be turned into a off camber pump track like Cactus trail in Whiting.
Although 5 oaks is much steeper.

Does anyone seriously think hikers will stay off bike-only trails? Good luck with that. The only group more clueless and entitled than mountain bikers are hikers. But now you will have downhill MTB traffic riding under the assumption they will not encounter hikers. How do you think that will turn out?

If 50% of hikers say “hmmm, I bet I’ll encounter a lot of bikes if I go up this trail, let’s go somewhere else,” your chances of encountering one on your particular ride go way down.
